These industrial pneumatic casters feature air filled pneumatic wheels. These industrial casters are designed for low speed manually moved applications only. Air filled pneumatic wheels provide a cushioned ride, shock absorption and quiet operation. Pneumatic casters are ideally suited for moving fragile or delicate cargo where caster overall height is not critical. Casters with pneumatic wheels are usually the best choice for use outdoors over rough surfaces ( i.e. gravel ) or on grass. The wide footprint on 8″ or larger pneumatic wheels provides stability on gravel and does not sink into lawns.

Pneumatic wheels with black tires do not mark the floor as long as the wheel is allowed to roll. Changing directions without allowing a swivel caster to turn gradually around, or dragging a black rubber wheel sideways, can mark some floors.

3″ Gray Soft Rubber Wheel. Precision Sealed Ball Bearings in the Wheel. Shown in Photo with 5″ wheel. Caster Model 3A comes with a special braking mechanism which locks the caster wheel as well as the swivel bearing which makes this an excellent caster for stationary applications where the cargo should not move. A total lock brake locks the swivel and the wheel. It latches them simultaneously by one foot on the brake pedal. The plate caster swivel model 3A has a metal total lock pedal. It is simple to turn on but not as simple to let go as the nylon brake pedal featured on K3. The metal lock can only be reached if the release deise with the type of your shoe which may not allow enough burden to be utilized to unlock the brake. This is not an issue with the nylon brake pedal on the k3. The metal total lock brake pedal is an alternative on 3a swivels. The metal pedal is shown slightly under the mounting plate of the swivel caster and slightly over the wheel. The metal pedal extends behind the wheel so the toe of your foot can simply reach the activation pedal. The metal pedal burrows into polyurethane and rubber tires more than the nylon pedal. The amount of the metal pedal total lock brake is more than the cost of a total lock brake with a nylon pedal. Neither type of total lock brake are possible on a caster rigid. The Total Locking Stem Caster Model 3A is excellent for labs, hospitals, and medical offices.
This caster comes with a gray, non-marking, injection molded thermoplastic rubber tire mechanically bonded to a polyolefin center. This caster wheel is 1-¼” wide and is designed to use a ⅜” axle.This soft gray rubber caster wheel comes with a durometer of 90-95A, making it excellent for indoor usage on smooth surfaces to reduice noise and vibration. The sealed ball bearing in this gray soft rubber caster wheel is bushed down to ⅜” with two plastic spanner bushings that also act as thread guards, guarding the bearing from direct and indirect moisture contact. If your application is moved infrequently and has a high capacity, injection molded caster wheels such as this are not the best choice.
