Description

Rigid Plate Caster Model 9 is the matching rigid caster for the Model 9 Swivel. When moving equipment by hand with 4 swivel casters it can be tough to control the direction you are pushing or pulling. Rigid casters help control the direction when equipment is moving in a straight line. Equipment with rigids can not move sideways. Rigid casters are typically attached at the opposite end from the push handle. The legs are 1/4″ thick and the axle is 1/2″ in diameter, built to accept wheels with a 2 7/16″ hub width. This caster is made from stamped steel. Rigid casters are able to carry more weight than swivel casters because there is no offset, but on our website both rigid and matching swivel casters are displayed with the same capacity. Ideal for food processing plants, distribution centers, and assembly line equipment. Additional mounting plate sizes and bearing types can be supplied on request. A 304 Stainless Steel version is also offered for washdown and corrosive environments.

This solid all polyurethane industrial caster wheel was developed for sanitary and washdown applications, and is capable of rolling indoors or outdoors. This blue all polyurethane caster wheel makes an excellent choice for institutional applications where sanitary conditions and washdowns are critical. These wheels are non-marking and non-conductive. Solid polyurethane wheels are more durable than any other polyurethane wheel since they cannot be de-laminated. These wheels offer high impact and abrasion resistance. Solid polyurethane wheels are highly resistant to oil, grease, water and most chemicals and solvents even up to 10% acidity. The “AP” blue all polyurethane industrial caster wheel is offered with a variety of bearing choices to suit your application. This industrial caster wheel comes with a durometer of Shore 60-65D and the temperature range is -20° to 180°F. These wheels are designed for use in a wet environment and they eliminate the possibility of tire separation. If your application is industrial and the load you are supporting is above institutional, consider using the gray all polyurethane “HU” caster wheel. Ideal for food processing equipment, hospitals, and pharmaceutical laboratories.

This caster is available in Stainless Steel Model 9.  It is constructed from 304 SS.  This is an excellent caster for wet or corrosive applications if your total weight exceeds 1000lbs.  It comes with the same large selection of wheels, some of which are also NSF and ROHS compliant.

*This Plate Caster Model 9 contains the All Polyurethane with Roller Bearings in the Wheel.

FAQ

Rigid Zinc Model 9 with Blue All Polyurethane Wheel – FAQ & Description

FAQ – Questions & Answers

What is a rigid caster, and how does it differ from a swivel caster?
A rigid caster is fixed in direction, providing stability and straight-line movement, unlike a swivel caster, which can rotate 360 degrees for maneuverability.

What is the Rigid Zinc Model 9 with Blue All Polyurethane Wheel designed for?
The Rigid Zinc Model 9 with Blue All Polyurethane Wheel is designed for dry environments needing sanitary conditions and stable, straight-line movement, such as manufacturing plants or distribution centers.

What makes the Blue All Polyurethane Wheel a good choice for this rigid caster?
The Blue All Polyurethane Wheel is a solid, one-piece molded design that resists oil, grease, water, and chemicals (up to 10% acidity) while providing smooth, non-marking performance.

Why is the Rigid Zinc Model 9 limited to dry environments?
The Rigid Zinc Model 9 has a zinc-plated steel frame that can corrode in wet or corrosive conditions. It’s best used in dry settings.

What industries can use the Rigid Zinc Model 9 with this wheel?
This rigid caster suits manufacturing, warehousing, and distribution centers in dry environments, especially where floor protection and sanitation are important.

What bearing options does the Blue All Polyurethane Wheel offer?
The Blue All Polyurethane Wheel comes with roller bearings, delrin bearings, or sealed precision ball bearings, all available in stainless steel for added durability.

What is the hardness of the Blue All Polyurethane Wheel?
The Blue All Polyurethane Wheel has a Shore 60-65D durometer, offering durability and low rolling resistance for industrial use.

What temperature range can the Blue All Polyurethane Wheel handle?
The Blue All Polyurethane Wheel operates from -20° to 180° F, suitable for both cold and warm dry environments.

How does the Blue All Polyurethane Wheel compare to bonded polyurethane wheels?
The Blue All Polyurethane Wheel is a solid, one-piece design that eliminates bond failure, unlike bonded polyurethane wheels, making it more durable.

Can the Rigid Zinc Model 9 be used in wet conditions?
No, the zinc-plated frame will corrode in wet conditions. For wet environments, consider a stainless steel model.

What maintenance does the Rigid Zinc Model 9 with this wheel require?
The Rigid Zinc Model 9 requires minimal maintenance, with sealed bearing options to reduce upkeep. Routine checks for wear are recommended.

Is the Rigid Zinc Model 9 compatible with standard equipment?
Yes, the Rigid Zinc Model 9 has a 4″ x 4-1/2″ mounting plate with a bolt pattern of 2-5/8” x 3-5/8” to 3” x 3” and a ½” axle, fitting most industrial setups.

What should I know about static loads on the Blue All Polyurethane Wheel?
The Blue All Polyurethane Wheel can develop a flat spot if static loads exceed 60% of its rated capacity for too long, so avoid overloading when parked.

What if my application involves rough, powered use?
The Rigid Zinc Model 9 isn’t built for abrasive, powered applications. Look at a tougher model like the G15. Call 800-501-3808 for advice.
