Description
DO NOT ORDER SWIVEL LOCK OR RACEWAY SEALS IF YOU ORDER THE TL – TOTAL LOCK BRAKE. THE TL BRAKE WILL NOT WORK WITH EITHER THE SWIVEL LOCK OR RACEWAY SEALS.
The Model 9 Swivel Caster is the most widely used industrial plate caster due to its affordable price point and extensive wheel options. Beneath the mounting plate are 2 rows of ball bearings running on heat treated raceways for smooth swiveling. A nut and bolt center pin is welded to endure standard abuse in hand pushed applications. The kingpin bolt is 5/8″ in diameter with 1/4″ thick legs welded inside and outside. The axle diameter is 1/2″, compatible with wheels that have a 2 7/16″ hub width. Constructed from stamped steel with zinc plated metal frames for corrosion resistance, this caster includes lubrication fittings for all moveable parts. A wide range of wheel brakes and swivel locks are available to suit most applications. Ideal for food processing plants, distribution centers, and assembly line equipment. Additional mounting plate sizes and bearing types can be supplied on request. A 304 Stainless Steel version is also offered for washdown and corrosive environments.
This blue all polyurethane caster wheel makes an excellent choice for institutional applications where sanitary conditions and washdowns are critical. Solid polyurethane wheels are fantastic solutions for heavy wash-down and food grade environments. The solid polyurethane wheel provides a one piece molded solution which eliminates the issues of tread bond failures making them durable solutions for tough environments. These wheels are non-marking and non-conductive. Solid polyurethane wheels are highly resistant to oil, grease, water and most chemicals and solvents even up to 10% acidity. The “AP” blue all polyurethane industrial caster wheel is offered with a variety of bearing choices to suit your application. This industrial caster wheel comes with a durometer of Shore 60-65D and the temperature range is -20° to 180°F. These wheels are designed for use in a wet environment and they eliminate the possibility of tire separation. These wheels are not recommended for applications involving shock, overloading, abuse, obstructions, poor floors, or for storage (standing) loads. Ideal for food processing equipment, hospitals, and pharmaceutical laboratories.
This caster is available in Stainless Steel Model 9. It is constructed from 304 Stainless Steel. This is an excellent caster for wet or corrosive applications if your total weight exceeds 1000lbs. It comes with the same large selection of wheels, some of which are also NSF and ROHS compliant.

FAQ
Zinc Model 9 with Blue All Polyurethane Wheel – FAQ
What is the Zinc Model 9 with Blue All Polyurethane Wheel designed for?
The Zinc Model 9 with Blue All Polyurethane Wheel is designed for dry environments needing sanitary conditions, such as manufacturing plants or distribution centers.
What makes the Blue All Polyurethane Wheel a good choice for this caster?
The Blue All Polyurethane Wheel is a solid, one-piece molded design that resists oil, grease, water, and chemicals (up to 10% acidity) while rolling smoothly without marking floors.
Why is the Zinc Model 9 limited to dry environments?
The Zinc Model 9 has a zinc-plated steel frame that can corrode in wet or corrosive conditions. It’s best used where moisture isn’t a factor.
What industries can use the Zinc Model 9 with this wheel?
This caster suits manufacturing, warehousing, and distribution centers in dry settings, especially where floor protection and sanitation matter.
What bearing options does the Blue All Polyurethane Wheel offer?
The Blue All Polyurethane Wheel comes with roller bearings, delrin bearings, or sealed precision ball bearings, all available in stainless steel for added durability.
What is the hardness of the Blue All Polyurethane Wheel?
The Blue All Polyurethane Wheel has a Shore 60-65D durometer, balancing durability and low rolling resistance for industrial use.
What temperature range can the Blue All Polyurethane Wheel handle?
The Blue All Polyurethane Wheel operates from -20° to 180° F, suitable for both cold and warm dry environments.
Can I add brakes to the Zinc Model 9 caster?
Yes, the Zinc Model 9 offers a swivel brake or total lock brake, but the total lock brake cannot be used with a swivel lock or raceway seals.
How does the Blue All Polyurethane Wheel compare to bonded polyurethane wheels?
The Blue All Polyurethane Wheel is a solid, one-piece design that eliminates bond failure, unlike bonded polyurethane wheels, making it more durable.
Can the Zinc Model 9 be used in wet conditions?
No, the zinc-plated frame will corrode in wet conditions. For wet environments, consider a stainless steel model.
What maintenance does the Zinc Model 9 with this wheel require?
The Zinc Model 9 requires minimal maintenance, with a greased fitting to keep the bearing and axle moving and sealed bearing options to reduce upkeep.
Is the Zinc Model 9 compatible with standard equipment?
Yes, the Zinc Model 9 has a 4″ x 4-1/2″ mounting plate with a bolt pattern of 2-5/8” x 3-5/8” to 3” x 3” and a ½” axle, fitting most industrial setups.
What should I know about static loads on the Blue All Polyurethane Wheel?
The Blue All Polyurethane Wheel can develop a flat spot if static loads exceed 60% of its rated capacity for too long, so avoid overloading when parked.
What if my application involves rough, powered use?
The Zinc Model 9 isn’t built for abrasive, powered applications. Look at the G15 model for tougher conditions. Call 800-501-3808 for advice.
