Polyolefin Caster Wheels from Caster City

Polyolefin Caster Wheels are injection molded from a blend of thermoplastic polymers, forming a one-piece solid sanitary design that prioritizes durability and hygiene. These wheels are available with a plain bore, precision sealed ball bearings, roller bearings, or Delrin bearings for smooth operation across various light to medium-duty applications. As a cost-effective and lightweight option, polyolefin wheels are hard, non-marking, and non-conductive, offering superior resistance to water, chemicals, solvents, acids, grease, oils, and gasoline. Their unique composition ensures excellent abrasion resistance and impact absorption, making them a reliable choice for environments where sanitation and floor protection are essential.

Polyolefin Caster Wheels are particularly suited for wet and corrosive applications due to their outstanding resistance to most commonly encountered liquids, ensuring long-lasting performance. Their slightly crowned tread enhances rollability and maneuverability, and they do not develop flat spots when parked for extended periods. With a hardness of 65–70 Shore D, these wheels provide floor protection, low noise, and easy cleaning, while remaining impervious to sterilization processes. However, they can become brittle in cold, dry environments like refrigerated storerooms and should not be used in freezers or heat applications above 180°F during intermittent usage, such as rack washers.

Ideal for bakeries, food processing, dairies, meat packaging, laundries, supermarkets, warehouses, manufacturing plants, cleanrooms, medical facilities, and offices, these wheels excel where chemical resistance and non-marking performance are critical. Capable of handling impacts and loads up to 900 lbs per wheel depending on size, they offer economical mobility in harsh conditions. For reliable, sanitary, and floor-friendly caster solutions tailored to your needs, contact Caster City to explore custom configurations of our durable Polyolefin Caster Wheels.

FAQ

Stainless Steel Swivel Plate Caster Model SS-3 with 1.25-Inch Wide PW White Polyolefin Wheel (Plain Bore)

What material is the PW White Polyolefin Wheel (Plain Bore) made from in the Stainless Steel Swivel Plate Caster Model SS-3?

The PW White Polyolefin Wheel (Plain Bore) in the Model SS-3 swivel plate caster is made from white polyolefin, a thermoplastic polymer resistant to water, chemicals, oils, and mild acids, ideal for sanitary environments due to its clean appearance and non-marking properties.

What applications are best for the light-duty stainless steel swivel caster with PW White Polyolefin Wheels (Plain Bore) in institutional settings?

This light-duty stainless steel swivel caster with PW White Polyolefin Wheels (Plain Bore) is ideal for food processing plants, hospitals, cleanrooms, and labs, where a plate mount caster moves carts or tables on smooth floors in dry or washdown environments, ensuring non-marking performance, chemical resistance, and visible cleanliness for sanitary compliance (Polyolefin Casters).

What is the load capacity and temperature range for the PW White Polyolefin Wheel (Plain Bore) in the Model SS-3 light-duty plate caster?

The PW White Polyolefin Wheel (Plain Bore) supports up to 300 lbs per wheel and operates from -20°F to 180°F. The caster can handle up to 400°F due to its raceway seals, but the wheel’s material limits continuous use to 180°F to avoid brittleness (Polyolefin Wheels).

What bearing type comes with the PW White Polyolefin Wheel (Plain Bore) in the Model SS-3 light-duty swivel caster?

The PW White Polyolefin Wheel (Plain Bore) comes with a plain bore for a 3/8” axle, offering a simple, cost-effective rolling solution for light to medium-duty applications in institutional settings (Polypropylene or Polyolefin Wheel Casters).

How should I maintain the PW White Polyolefin Wheel (Plain Bore) in the Stainless Steel Swivel Plate Caster Model SS-3 to ensure longevity?

To maintain the PW White Polyolefin Wheel (Plain Bore), avoid prolonged exposure to temperatures above 180°F, as this can cause brittleness. Regularly inspect for wear and use on smooth floors to prevent damage from shock, overloading, abuse, obstructions, or rough surfaces (Polyolefin Wheels).

How does the PW White Polyolefin Wheel (Plain Bore) compare to other types of wheels, such as nylon or rubber, in terms of performance and suitability?

Compared to nylon wheels, the PW White Polyolefin Wheel (Plain Bore) has a lower load capacity and temperature range but is more economical and resistant to water and chemicals. Compared to rubber wheels, it’s harder, less shock-absorbing, but more durable in wet environments and non-marking, ideal for sanitary settings (Polyolefin Casters).

Are there any specific safety features or considerations when using the PW White Polyolefin Wheel (Plain Bore) in institutional settings?

The PW White Polyolefin Wheel (Plain Bore) is designed for light to medium-duty use and should avoid standing loads, shock, or impact. The optional total lock brake enhances safety by securing equipment during operations, preventing unintended movement in hospitals or labs (Stainless Steel Swivel Caster).

What are the mounting specifications for the Stainless Steel Swivel Plate Caster Model SS-3 with PW White Polyolefin Wheels (Plain Bore)?

The Model SS-3 has a mounting plate size of 2 3/8” x 3 5/8” with a slotted bolt hole pattern of 1 3/4” x 2 7/8” to 3”, designed to use 5/16” mounting bolts, ensuring secure attachment for institutional equipment like carts or tables.

What brake options are available for the Stainless Steel Swivel Plate Caster Model SS-3 with PW White Polyolefin Wheels (Plain Bore)?

The Model SS-3 offers three stainless steel brake options: the Total Locking Brake (TL) to lock both wheel and swivel (high temp compatible), the Top Lock Brake (TB) with a metal pedal on the side (high temp compatible), and the Plastic Top Lock Brake (PTB) with a plastic pedal behind the wheel (not high temp usable due to the plastic pedal).

Why is the optional total lock brake on the Model SS-3 swivel plate caster with PW White Polyolefin Wheels (Plain Bore) important for safety in hospital or lab settings?

The optional total lock brake locks the swivel and wheel, fully immobilizing the stainless steel assembly to prevent movement of objects—like carts, tables, or lab equipment—during tasks like working, cleaning, or setup, ensuring safety in hospital or lab environments. Total locking casters are crucial because in tasks like cutting, welding, or sawing, people may lean against the worktable while performing hazardous operations, and the total lock caster prevents any movement, totally immobilizing wheel and swivel rotation.

What makes the Model SS-3 light-duty stainless steel industrial caster a trusted choice for institutional applications in wet settings?

The Model SS-3 is a trusted choice for wet institutional settings due to its 304 stainless steel construction, NSF and ROHS compliance, raceway seals for high-temp use up to 400°F, zerk fitting, and dust cover for the swivel bearing, offering corrosion resistance and durability for washdown environments like labs or hospitals (Stainless Steel Swivel Caster).

How does the Model SS-3 light-duty stainless steel industrial caster enhance stability for lab or hospital equipment in institutional settings?

The Model SS-3 enhances stability for lab or hospital equipment with its double ball bearing swivel for smooth rotation, raceway seals and dust cover for durability, and brake options like TL, TB, and PTB to secure equipment—like carts or tables—firmly in place during operations, ensuring safety in institutional settings.
