Stainless steel casters, offered in both plate and stem mounting styles, are built for use in wet, corrosive, or high-temperature environments where durability and cleanliness are critical. These casters are available in both 304 and 316 stainless steel—the former offering strong corrosion resistance for general industrial and food service use, and the latter providing superior protection against harsh chemicals and saltwater, making it ideal for marine and pharmaceutical applications. Designed to handle temperatures up to 450°F when paired with high-temp wheels and raceway seals, these casters perform reliably in extreme heat such as in autoclaves or commercial ovens.
Caster City’s stainless steel casters are built with longevity and performance in mind. Each unit includes a grease fitting in the swivel bearing for easy maintenance, protective seals, and a dust cover to guard internal components from contaminants. Whether you choose 304 for its broad utility or 316 for its maximum corrosion resistance, these casters ensure smooth, low-maintenance mobility in the most demanding conditions.
These industrial pneumatic casters feature air filled pneumatic wheels. These industrial casters are designed for low speed manually moved applications only. Air filled pneumatic wheels provide a cushioned ride, shock absorption and quiet operation. Pneumatic casters are ideally suited for moving fragile or delicate cargo where caster overall height is not critical. Casters with pneumatic wheels are usually the best choice for use outdoors over rough surfaces ( i.e. gravel ) or on grass. The wide footprint on 8″ or larger pneumatic wheels provides stability on gravel and does not sink into lawns.
Pneumatic casters and pneumatic wheels are also popular for indoor use in places such as hospitals, scientific and electronic laboratories, hotels, department stores and TV or movie studios.
Pneumatic wheels with black tires do not mark the floor as long as the wheel is allowed to roll. Changing directions without allowing a swivel caster to turn gradually around, or dragging a black rubber wheel sideways, can mark some floors.
Caster City offers a wide range of office and furniture casters designed for smooth, quiet movement across carpet, tile, and hardwood floors. If you’re upgrading desk chairs, file cabinets, mobile workstations, or anything else your office needs our casters provide durability, ease of movement, and a professional finish that complements any office setup.

Plate Rigid Caster Model 9 is the equivalent plate caster for the Plate Swivel Caster Model 9. When manually moving systems supported by 4 swivel casters it can be difficult to control the direction you are pushing or pulling. Rigid casters support in controlling equipment being moved in straight line travel. Equipment with both rigid casters can not move sideways. Rigid Casters are usually installed at the opposite end of the push handle. Rigid Casters have 2 legs perpendicular to the mounting plate. Leg thickness is 1/4”. The axle diameter is 1/2” long and is designed to use wheels with a hub width of 2 7/16”. This caster is built from stamped steel. Rigid Casters can carry more weight than swivel casters because they do not have an offset. Other mounting plate sizes and wheel bearing types are available on request.
*This Plate Caster Model 9 contains the Extra Heavy Polyurethane on Aluminum with Precision Sealed Ball Bearings in the Wheel.
The extra thick CP industrial caster wheel, available in green or red polyurethane tires, is specifically designed for demanding power towed applications where durability is key. Manufactured by Caster City, this 2” wide wheel comes only in 6” and 8” diameters, featuring an extra-thick polyurethane tire chemically bonded to an aluminum center with a Shore 80A durometer for enhanced resilience. It’s liquid cast for a seamless build and equipped with high efficiency extra large precision sealed ball bearings, reduced via top hat spanners to fit a ½” axle bolt. This setup makes it tough enough to handle the abuse and wear from power towing, while providing more cushion than thinner polyurethane wheels, ideal for industrial uses without extreme shock, overloading, or poor floors.
Compared to conventional rubber wheels, the CP’s non-marking polyurethane tire rolls easier under the same load on smooth floors, with less resistance over debris or small objects thanks to its soft, thick tread. It’s a standout for environments with metal shavings, like airport tarmacs, where its 80A durometer and special additives allow the flexible poly to spit out shavings rather than embed them—unlike harder, thinner 95A poly tires that can fail prematurely from heat buildup and debris. Polyurethane’s poor heat conduction means thinner tires rely on metallic cores as heat sinks, but the CP’s design counters this with extra resiliency, while withstanding chemicals and solvents in applications avoiding obstructions or standing loads.

What is the green extra thick CP industrial caster wheel designed for?The green extra thick CP industrial caster wheel was specifically designed for power towed applications, where it handles the heavy demands of towing equipment. It features a durable green polyurethane tire that’s built to endure the intense abuse and wear that comes from power towing, making it ideal for tough industrial environments.
What sizes does the CP caster wheel come in?This caster wheel is 2” wide and manufactured only in 6” and 8” diameters. It includes extra-large ball bearings that are reduced using top hat spanners to fit a ½” axle, ensuring smooth operation and easy installation in compatible setups.
Does a polyurethane caster wheel roll easier than a rubber one?Yes, under the same size load on a smooth floor, a polyurethane caster wheel rolls easier than a conventional rubber caster wheel. Overall, polyurethane wheels provide better rolling performance on smooth surfaces compared to rubber ones, which can help reduce effort in moving loads.
What’s the durometer of the CP caster wheel and how is the tire made? The CP industrial caster wheel has an extra-thick polyurethane tire that’s chemically bonded to a sturdy aluminum center, with a durometer rating of Shore 80A. This construction ensures strong adhesion and reliable performance in demanding uses.
How does the extra thick tire help with debris? The soft, extra thick tire reduces rolling resistance when encountering debris or small objects on the floor. In practice, this extra thick and soft polyurethane tire allows the wheel to roll over such obstacles more easily, improving mobility in less-than-perfect conditions.
Will the CP wheel pick up metal shavings? It’s largely untrue that a generic 95A polyurethane wheel is all you need to prevent metal shavings from FOD embedding into the tread surface. What really works well for us, particularly in high-risk areas like airport flightlines and tarmacs where rivets from fuselages are scattered on the ground, is this CP product. It’s a premier choice for environments where you’re rolling over metal shavings and need a wheel that’s fairly resistant to picking them up. With a durometer around 80A, the extra resilience of the poly material combined with the increased tread thickness helps reduce the chance of metal shavings sticking in the wheel. In contrast, a harder 95A poly wheel tends to let shavings embed more easily, leading to premature tire failure.
Why are most 95A poly tires thin? Most 95A poly tires are typically thin by design. This thinness helps them dissipate heat more effectively during use, and they also depend on their metallic cores to serve as a heat sink, drawing away and releasing built-up heat to prevent issues.
How does polyurethane handle heat in wheels?Polyurethane is a poor conductor of heat, meaning it doesn’t transfer heat well. In wheels, this leads to heat buildup from friction during rolling and repeated usage; since it can’t dissipate the heat easily, it keeps accumulating until failure occurs (known as hysteresis). Ultimately, the polyurethane can liquify from the inside out, resulting in a catastrophic breakdown from ongoing heat accumulation.
What makes the CP wheel different in handling impacts and shavings? The CP wheel stands out as an extremely thick and extremely soft wheel, featuring special additives in the polyurethane that enhance its ability to absorb impacts. The poly material offers extra resiliency, meaning it flexes and essentially spits out metal shavings instead of letting them embed into the surface like they would on a hard, thin tire.
Where can I get the CP caster wheel?Caster City manufactures this industrial caster wheel in 6” and 8” diameters, all 2” wide, complete with top hat spanners for a ½” axle. You can find the 6″ version at https://castercity.com/product/6-extra-thick-polyurethane-on-aluminum-wheel/ and the 8″ at https://castercity.com/product/8-extra-thick-polyurethane-on-aluminum-wheel/. These are priced above average, but we can arrange an aggressive deal for you—it’s definitely the top choice for a reliable poly wheel.
How are these caster wheels made? These caster wheels are produced using liquid cast polyurethane directly onto aluminum centers, creating a seamless and robust bond for long-lasting performance.
What are the tire properties of these wheels? They come with non-marking polyurethane tires that roll easier than gray rubber wheels on smooth floors, making them a practical upgrade for cleaner, more efficient movement in various settings.
What chemicals and applications can these wheels handle? These wheels can withstand exposure to a wide range of chemicals and solvents. They’re suitable for industrial applications as long as they avoid extreme conditions like shock, overloading, abuse, obstructions, poor floors, or prolonged storage under standing loads.
How does the CP wheel provide cushion? The extra thick, softer durometer CP polyurethane on aluminum wheel delivers more cushioning compared to thinner polyurethane wheels, offering better shock absorption and a smoother ride over uneven surfaces.
What bearings does this wheel use? This wheel is equipped with high efficiency extra large precision sealed ball bearings, which contribute to its smooth rolling and durability in heavy-duty applications.
