Description
3″ Blue Polyurethane on Aluminum Wheel. Ball Bearings in the Wheel.
Shown here at Caster City with a 5″ Polyurethane Wheel.
The Polyurethane on Polyolefin Caster Wheel in the Zinc-Plated Total Locking Caster Model 3A is a solid choice for light industrial casters. It has non-marking injection molded polyurethane tires mechanically bonded to a polyolefin center, offered in red, gray, black, or blue colors. This wheel is built for 3”, 4”, and 5” diameters (1.25” wide), has a Shore 60D durometer, and holds up to 300 lbs per wheel on smooth floors from 32°F to 180°F in spots like research labs, hospitals, food service, schools, and institutional applications. The wheel comes with thread guards and precision sealed ball bearings. The thread guards also act as a spanner bushing while protecting the bearings. The metal caster yoke assembly is made from stamped steel, zinc-plated to resist corrosion, with a ⅜” diameter axle bolt and a ½” diameter steel rivet holding the swivel raceways together, plus two rows of ball bearings for smoother swiveling. A total lock brake locks both the wheel and the swivel on a swivel caster at the same time. This setup makes it perfect for a total locking industrial caster needing a smooth-rolling wheel and a sturdy metal fork assembly for sensitive settings.
These polyurethane on poly wheels roll easier than gray rubber on smooth floors and withstand exposure to many chemicals and solvents, making them a smart pick for institutional applications. They don’t work in applications with shock, overloading, abuse, obstructions, poor floors, or standing loads—don’t exceed 50% of the rated capacity for applications parked for long periods, as the bonding agent holding the tire to its polyolefin center can be affected by such conditions. The metal caster assembly adds durability with a dust cover shielding the swivel bearings from dirt, giving reliable performance in dry factory settings like labs or kitchens, ensuring safety with the total lock brake feature when the metal pedal brake is engaged.
