Description
Model 150 Plate Casters with Rigid are used in partnership with the matching plate swivel caster. Plate Caster Model 150s usually have 4” wide wheels with a 1 1/4” diameter axle. The mounting plate is 5/8” thick. The leg thickness is 1/2”. These specs are designed to handle the most arduous caster tasks. Rigid Model 150 plate casters are moved with mechanically powered equipment. All of our frames are zinc plated for rust protection and wheel bearings have a grease fitting. Rigid casters are used to control the direction machine is moved when direct line travel is needed. The same model swivel casters should be connected nearest the push handle or tow bar. Rigid casters are not able to move sideways, you must select swivel casters for maximum movement in enclosed space.
*This Plate Caster Model 150 contains the Ductile Steel Wheel. The caster shown in photo with 8″ x 4″ wheel.
Ductile Steel Caster Wheels from Caster City
- DS
Caster City’s Ductile Steel Industrial Caster Wheels are designed for heavy-duty applications where loads surpass the capacity of floor-protective wheels or severe service conditions are present. Ideal for industrial and manufacturing settings where floor wear is secondary to the critical tasks performed, these wheels are available in 2”, 3”, and 4” widths and diameters ranging from 4” to 16”. With high ductility and tensile strength, our ductile steel wheels absorb shocks and impacts without failure, ensuring reliable performance in rugged environments. For precise, guided movement, we offer a V-groove design that rolls smoothly on inverted angle iron tracks, providing stable and controlled operation in demanding conditions.
These Ductile Steel Industrial Caster Wheels are built for exceptional durability, featuring either roller bearings or sealed precision ball bearings, with load ratings determined solely by bearing capacity. Each wheel includes a lubrication fitting in the hub for easy maintenance and prolonged service life. Capable of withstanding temperatures up to 400°F depending on the application, these solid steel wheels are well-suited for challenging environments. For continuous temperatures above 400°F, where steel roller bearings and spanner bushings may anneal, consult our engineering team to ensure optimal performance in high-temperature applications.
While Ductile Steel Industrial Caster Wheels excel at handling substantial loads in harsh conditions, they can damage most factory floors under heavy loads. To mitigate this, they are typically used on steel plating, in metal channels, or as V-grooved wheels on angle iron tracks to protect costly flooring. Compared to Gray Iron wheels, our ductile steel wheels offer superior ductility and tensile strength, making them the top choice for environments requiring shock absorption and reliability. Contact Caster City for custom configurations to meet your heavy-duty needs with our durable, high-capacity ductile steel wheels.
FAQ
Plate Caster Model 150
What is the weight capacity of the Plate Caster Model 150?
This beast can haul up to 20,000 lbs per caster under ideal conditions, like smooth floors and manual movement at speeds up to 3 mph. If your setup’s rough or uses powered gear, call Caster City at 800-501-3808 for a custom recommendation.
What wheel sizes come with the Plate Caster Model 150?
You get 4-inch wide wheels in 8-inch, 10-inch, or 12-inch diameters. Pick what fits your load and surface—bigger wheels handle bumpy ground like a champ.
What is the Plate Caster Model 150 made of?
It’s built tough with ASTM1045 drop-forged steel, a 5/8” thick swivel head, and 1/2” thick double-welded legs. The 7” raceway rocks 3/4” hardened steel ball bearings, and it’s zinc-plated to keep rust at bay.
What makes the ductile steel wheel in the Plate Caster Model 150 so durable?
The ductile steel wheel is a heavy-duty beast with 45,000 psi tensile strength, shrugging off wear and tear. Available in 4” widths and 8”, 10”, or 12” diameters, it handles 1,500 to 17,000 lbs depending on size and laughs in the face of impacts and heat up to 400°F.
What bearing options are available for the ductile steel wheel in the Plate Caster Model 150?
Choose from roller, precision sealed ball, bronze, or tapered roller bearings. Roller’s solid for heavy loads, precision ball keeps it smooth, bronze handles high heat, and tapered’s extra tough. Not sure? Hit up Caster City at 800-501-3808 for advice.
Can the Plate Caster Model 150 with ductile steel wheels handle abusive conditions?
Hell yeah, it’s made for punishment—think uneven floors or heavy impacts. The caster’s thick legs and the steel wheel’s toughness make it a tank, but for insane abuse, check with Caster City to lock in the perfect setup.
Are the ductile steel wheels in the Plate Caster Model 150 safe for factory floors?
Fair warning—these wheels are load-carrying beasts but can scuff up factory floors. Stick to steel plates, channels, or use V-groove wheels on angle iron tracks. Got floor worries? Email Caster City at sales@castercity.com for tips.
What industries use the Plate Caster Model 150 with ductile steel wheels?
It’s a go-to for automotive, aerospace, mining, steel mills, construction, and heavy manufacturing. From aircraft engine stands to welding tables and ore carts, this caster and wheel combo crushes it in tough spots.
How does the swivel bearing in the Plate Caster Model 150 work with the ductile steel wheel?
The precision-machined swivel bearing makes turns smooth as hell, cuts down vibration, and pairs perfectly with the ductile steel wheel to keep things moving under massive loads, whether in steel mills or tight aerospace setups.
What are the top applications for the ductile steel wheel in the Plate Caster Model 150?
These wheels shine in mining (hauling ore carts), powder coating (big metal structures), welding tables (heavy parts), heavy manufacturing (oversized gear), steel mills (molten metal loads), construction (rough terrain), and industrial ovens (high-heat racks). They’re built for big loads, not floor pampering.
How do I maintain the Plate Caster Model 150 and its ductile steel wheel?
Keep it rolling smooth with grease fittings on the caster’s raceway, axle, and the wheel’s lubrication fitting. Regular greasing is key for heavy-duty jobs like mining or industrial ovens.
Can the Plate Caster Model 150 with ductile steel wheels be used with mechanically powered equipment?
It’s killer for manual movement, but for powered setups, you gotta check with Caster City first. They’ll dial in the right config to keep it safe and smooth.
What is the top plate size of the Plate Caster Model 150?
It’s a beefy 8-1/2″ x 8-1/2″, giving you a rock-solid base for heavy gear like storage tanks, aerospace dollies, or welding tables.
