Description
V-Groove swivel casters require a Swivel Lock in order to go backwards when on Angle Iron Track.
Plate Caster Model 9 Swivel is the go-to industrial caster across many industries because of its low upfront cost and the widest wheel selection available. The swivel features 2 rows of balls rotating on heat treated raceways under the mounting plate. A nut and bolt center pin is welded to handle normal abuse in a manually moved application. The kingpin bolt diameter is 5/8″ and the legs are 1/4″ thick, welded on the inside and out. The 1/2″ diameter axle is designed to use wheels with a 2 7/16″ hub width. This caster is constructed from stamped steel with zinc plated frames for rust resistance. Lubrication fittings for all moveable parts are included. Model 9 comes with a broad selection of wheel brakes and swivel locks for most applications. Ideal for steel service centers, welding shops, and heavy equipment repair facilities. Other mounting plate sizes and wheel bearing types are available on request. This caster can also be ordered in 304 Stainless Steel for wet or corrosive applications.
The VX V-Groove Ultra High Capacity Polymer wheel rolls on inverted angle iron track, using the V-groove profile to keep equipment aligned and on course. The relief groove at the base of the “V” distributes the load evenly across both faces of the angle iron, preventing uneven wear on the track. This wheel is built from the same NX compression-molded polymer found in our flat-tread ultra high capacity lineup, with a Shore hardness of 80D, a temperature range of -20°F to 250°F, and full resistance to chemicals, corrosion, and moisture. Compression molding means the VX wheel will not develop flat spots when equipment sits parked on track for days, weeks, or longer. A major advantage over traditional metal V-groove wheels is noise. The VX runs substantially quieter than gray iron or forged steel V-groove alternatives while actually supporting greater loads than gray iron options. The entire wheel is non-metallic, which is a requirement in applications involving spark-sensitive environments, electrical conductivity concerns, or facilities where metal wheels are prohibited for sanitary or regulatory reasons. When the equipment is off the track, the wide tread surface on each side of the V-groove provides stable rolling on smooth floors. Elevated track keeps the wheels above floor debris that can interfere with caster performance.
