Description
Model 3 Swivel Casters are a plate caster made using stamped steel and finished with bright zinc plating for corrosion protection. The top plate is 2-3/8″ x 3-5/8″ and the hole pattern is 1-3/4″ x 3″, slotted to 1-3/4″ x 2-7/8″ using a 5/16″ mounting bolt size. The caster uses a 3/8″ diameter bolt axle with a locking nut and the swivel is held together with a 1/2″ diameter rivet. Two rows of ball bearings on hardened raceways provide smooth and dependable swivel operation. There is a metal dust cover that shields the swivel raceways from dirt and dust. This caster features wheels with 1-1/4″ and 1-1/2″ tread widths. Ideal for florist delivery carts, greenhouse equipment, and nursery plant dollies. This zinc plated caster is NSF listed. This caster can also be supplied in Stainless Steel Model 3 for wet or corrosive applications.
The RH High Capacity Soft Gray Rubber Wheel is a premium choice for demanding environments. This non-marking, injection-molded thermoplastic rubber tire is mechanically bonded to a polyolefin (industrial plastic) center. The 65A soft durometer provides superior shock absorption and floor protection compared to standard-duty gray rubber wheels. Soft rubber provides more desirable operating characteristics than any other wheel material. These gray soft rubber wheels are non-marking, quiet, can roll over small objects, protect costly floor surfaces, and minimize vibration. These caster wheels are popular on equipment in pharmaceutical laboratories, hospitals, food service and other institutional applications. These caster wheels provide a softer ride than polyurethane and yet withstand exposure to many chemicals and solvents. The High Capacity Soft Gray Rubber Caster Wheel comes with annular ball bearings or Delrin bearings requiring no maintenance. They can be used in industrial applications which do not involve shock, overloading, abuse, obstructions, poor floors or storage (standing) loads. Ideal for pharmaceutical labs, hospitals, and food service applications.
FAQ
Plate Caster Model 3 with RHB High Capacity Soft Blue Rubber (TPR) Wheels
What is TPR in the Plate Caster Model 3’s RHB High Capacity Soft Blue Rubber wheels?
TPR (Thermoplastic Rubber) is a non-marking, injection-molded blue rubber mechanically bonded to a polyolefin core in the RHB High Capacity Soft Blue Rubber wheels. It’s elastic, tear-resistant, and quieter than polyurethane, providing shock absorption and floor protection for hospitals, labs, and food service. It resists light chemicals but may develop flat spots under prolonged loads.
Why choose RHB High Capacity Soft Blue Rubber wheels for hospital equipment?
The non-marking blue TPR wheels on the Plate Caster Model 3 roll quietly, absorb shock, and protect floors like tile or linoleum, making them perfect for hospital carts or beds. They’re NSF-listed and ideal for dry institutional settings, preserving equipment and floors.
Can RHB High Capacity Soft Blue Rubber wheels handle chemicals in pharmaceutical labs?
Yes, the blue TPR tires resist many chemicals and solvents, suitable for dry lab environments. Harsh chemicals or heat buildup may weaken the tire’s bond to the polyolefin core, so avoid heavy exposure.
How hard is it to push the Plate Caster Model 3 with RHB High Capacity Soft Blue Rubber wheels?
TPR wheels need more effort under load. For manual pushing, reduce the 350 lbs per wheel capacity by 50% (to 175 lbs) and select the 5” diameter for easier movement on smooth, dry factory floors.
Can I leave the Plate Caster Model 3 with RHB High Capacity Soft Blue Rubber wheels under load?
No, avoid prolonged standing loads. The blue TPR tires can develop flat spots or a permanent “set,” reducing performance in institutional settings like schools or food service.
Are RHB High Capacity Soft Blue Rubber wheels suitable for rough industrial floors?
No, these TPR wheels are designed for smooth, dry factory floors without obstructions. They’re best for institutional applications like hospitals or labs, not abusive industrial environments.
Do RHB High Capacity Soft Blue Rubber wheels on the Plate Caster Model 3 require maintenance?
No, the sealed annular ball bearings are maintenance-free, keeping out dust for smooth, lasting performance on dry floors in pharmaceutical labs, hospitals-github.com, or food service settings.
What are the mounting specifications for the Plate Caster Model 3 with TPR wheels?
The Plate Caster Model 3 has a 2 3/8” x 3 5/8” top plate with a slotted bolt hole pattern of 1 3/4” x 2 7/8” to 3”, using 5/16” bolts, fitting standard institutional carts or shelving.
Can the Plate Caster Model 3 with RHB High Capacity Soft Blue Rubber wheels be used in wet environments?
The zinc-plated steel frame isn’t suited for wet, washdown, or corrosive conditions. Use these blue TPR wheels in dry settings like labs or hospitals to prevent rust and ensure durability.
Is the Plate Caster Model 3 with RHB High Capacity Soft Blue Rubber wheels NSF-listed for food service?
Yes, the Plate Caster Model 3 is NSF-listed, ideal for food service or medical settings in dry environments. Verify with the supplier that the blue TPR wheels meet NSF standards for your use.
How do I replace the RHB High Capacity Soft Blue Rubber wheel on the Plate Caster Model 3?
Match the wheel’s diameter (3”, 4”, or 5”), tread width (1-1/4” or 1-1/2”), and 3/8” axle. Choose a non-marking blue TPR wheel with sealed annular ball bearings to maintain the quiet, smooth roll.
How do RHB High Capacity Soft Blue Rubber wheels compare to polyurethane for institutional casters?
The blue TPR wheels are softer, quieter, and better at shock absorption than polyurethane, protecting floors and cargo in hospitals or labs. They roll less easily under load and aren’t suited for rough floors.
