9UDC6x2-R (Rigid Caster)

The 9UDC6x2-R is a rigid caster built on Caster City’s Model 9 frame with a 6×2 Crown Tread Polyurethane on Aluminum Hub Wheel. This heavy duty industrial caster features a 65D durometer blue polyurethane tire chemically and mechanically bonded to a lightweight aluminum hub, engineered to cut through carpet fibers and deliver minimal rolling resistance on smooth floors. The crown tread design creates a line contact that parts carpet pile efficiently while the counter-bored hub with precision sealed ball bearings reduces friction, allowing straight-line travel with less effort. Rated at 1,000 lbs per caster, this rigid configuration provides directional stability for equipment that needs to track straight – tow carts, assembly line feeders, and any application where swiveling isn’t required but low rolling resistance is critical.

The aluminum hub’s advantages are clear: reduced weight for lower starting force, faster heat dissipation to maintain bond integrity during extended runs, and a clean aesthetic that works in customer-facing or high-visibility environments. The 6×2 wheel handles -40°F to 180°F and protects floors better than metal or hard composition wheels while outperforming conventional rubber in rollability on smooth surfaces. This caster isn’t designed for shock loads, overloading, or sitting stationary under maximum load for extended periods – these conditions stress the chemical bond between polyurethane and aluminum. Additionally, aluminum’s reactive nature means exposure to certain chemicals, acids, alkalis, or solvents can compromise the bond – always verify compatibility with Caster City before using in chemically harsh environments.

The Model 9 rigid fork uses the same robust construction as the swivel: flame-hardened components, 1/4″ thick legs welded inside and out, and a 4×4-1/2″ zinc-plated mounting plate with the standard 2-5/8×3-5/8″ bolt pattern. Paired with swivel casters on the same equipment, these rigids provide tracking stability while the swivels handle directional changes. This setup is common in warehouse carts, tow-behind trailers, and production line equipment where straight-line performance matters. The sealed bearings require zero maintenance, and the non-marking blue polyurethane keeps floors clean in hospitals, labs, and food service areas where scuff marks are unacceptable.
