High-Temperature Caster

A high-temperature caster is built with heat-resistant wheel materials and often specialized bearing grease to hold up in ovens, autoclaves, and other environments well above standard operating temperatures.

What a high-temperature caster is

Standard wheel compounds can soften or degrade at elevated temperatures, so high-temperature lines use specific phenolic, high-temp rubber, or metal wheel constructions rated for the actual heat exposure.

When it matters

Autoclaves, industrial ovens, and any process involving sustained heat exposure well above room temperature.

What to check / common mistakes

Using a standard wheel in a high-heat process. Confirm the actual temperature rating against your process temperature — softening or failure can happen well before the load rating would suggest a problem.

Frequently asked questions

What temperature can high-temperature casters handle?

Varies by specific product — check the individual spec sheet for the exact rated range rather than assuming a single universal figure.

Do high-temperature casters need special bearings?

Often yes — standard bearing grease can break down at elevated temperatures, so high-temp models typically use specialized lubrication.
