Spanner Bushing – Top

logo November 18 2025

Spanner bushings are simple, heavy duty sleeves used inside caster wheels to keep the bearing aligned and the wheel rolling smoothly. They fit between the bearing and the axle bolt, creating a secure, consistent spacing that prevents the wheel from binding or wobbling. These bushings help extend the life of both the wheel and the bearing by reducing side load and keeping everything running straight. Common in carts, dollies, and industrial equipment, spanner bushings are an essential part of any caster setup that needs steady performance and long lasting reliability.

If wheels with ball or straight roller bearings are mounted in casters they should be equipped with a spanner bushing. If wheels with straight roller bearings are to rotate directly on a shaft (without a spanner bushing), then the shaft should be hardened and ground. For sizes other than shown, please contact us.
