Uneven-Floor Caster

For gaps, thresholds, and uneven or rough floors, larger wheel diameter and softer, more cushioned materials — sometimes paired with spring-loaded (shock-absorbing) construction — roll over irregularities more smoothly than small, hard wheels.

What a uneven-floor caster is

A larger wheel bridges gaps and small obstacles more easily since more of its surface stays in contact with the floor at once; softer materials cushion the impact when a wheel does drop into a gap or over a threshold.

When it matters

Older facilities with uneven concrete, dock plate transitions, and any floor with regular gaps, cracks, or thresholds.

What to check / common mistakes

Sizing wheels for a smooth floor when the real floor is rough. A wheel that performs fine on a smooth showroom floor can struggle on an actual uneven warehouse surface — size for the real conditions.

Frequently asked questions

Do pneumatic wheels help on uneven floors?

Yes — air-filled pneumatic wheels absorb irregularities well, similar in effect to a larger cushioned wheel.

Should I use spring-loaded casters on uneven floors?

It can help — spring-loaded casters absorb shock from gaps and thresholds better than standard rigid-stem casters.
