Description

Model 9 Swivel Plate Casters are the most widely used industrial casters in manufacturing because of the affordable initial cost and wide assortment of wheels. Two rows of balls rotate on heat treated raceways beneath the mounting plate for dependable swivel operation. The welded nut and bolt center pin withstands normal abuse in manually pushed equipment. Kingpin bolt diameter is 5/8″ and leg thickness is 1/4″, welded inside and out. The 1/2″ axle diameter is sized for wheels with a 2 7/16″ hub width. Stamped steel construction with zinc plated metal frames provides rust resistance. All moveable parts include lubrication fittings. A broad selection of wheel brakes and swivel locks is available for most applications. Ideal for furniture manufacturing, glass handling equipment, and metal fabrication shops. Additional mounting plate sizes and wheel bearing types are available on request. A 304 Stainless Steel version is also offered for applications in wet or corrosive environments.
Phenolic caster wheels make an excellent, low cost choice for supporting high standing loads that move infrequently. Phenolic can not develop a flat spot if left parked for a long period under load, and the wheel is capable of withstanding shock loads and the impacts of small obstructions. Phenolic wheels are a hard composition, non-marking wheel designed for supporting large loads comparable to a metal wheel. Phenolic can absorb water and other chemicals if excessive exposure occurs, so this wheel is best suited for dry environments. Phenolic caster wheels come standard with a roller bearing and have precision sealed ball bearings as an option. All phenolic wheels have a Durometer of Shore D 90 and the temperature range is -40°F to +250°F. Ideal for warehouse storage equipment, manufacturing floor carts, and heavy stationary fixtures.

*This Plate Caster Model 9 contains the 3 1/4″ Phenolic Swivel Wheel.

The Photo Displayed on CasterCity.com is the 6″ Caster Wheel.

This caster is available in Stainless Steel – click here.  This is an excellent caster for wet or corrosive applications if your total weight exceeds 1000lbs.  It comes with the same large selection of wheels, some of which are also NSF and ROHS compliant.

FAQ

Model 9 Heavy-Duty Industrial Caster with Phenolic Wheel

What is the load capacity of the Model 9 heavy-duty industrial caster with Phenolic Wheel?

The Model 9 heavy-duty industrial caster with a 6-inch or 8-inch diameter, 2-inch wide Phenolic Wheel supports up to 1,200 lbs per caster in manually moved applications. For other diameters or powered equipment, contact Caster City at 800-501-3808 for heavy duty caster recommendations.

What wheel sizes are available for the Model 9 heavy-duty industrial caster with Phenolic Wheel?

The Model 9 industrial caster uses a single Phenolic Wheel in 3.25-inch, 4-inch, 5-inch, 6-inch, or 8-inch diameters, all 2-inch wide, with a hard composition, non-marking design for heavy duty casters.

What makes the Phenolic Wheel effective for heavy duty industrial casters like the Model 9?

The Phenolic Wheel, a hard composition, non-marking wheel, supports large loads up to 1,200 lbs for 6-inch and 8-inch sizes, resists flat spots under heavy static loads, and withstands shock loads and small obstructions, ideal for industrial casters in stationary applications.

What industries are best suited for the Model 9 heavy-duty industrial caster with Phenolic Wheel?

The Model 9 heavy duty industrial caster is suited for heavy manufacturing, warehouses, and industrial settings with heavy static loads, providing non-marking performance for heavy duty casters, though not ideal for wet or chemical-heavy environments.

What is the difference between swivel and rigid Model 9 heavy duty industrial casters with Phenolic Wheel?

Swivel Model 9 heavy duty industrial casters allow 360-degree rotation for maneuverability, while rigid heavy duty casters ensure straight-line travel, both using a 2-inch wide Phenolic Wheel, with rigids carrying more weight due to no offset for industrial casters.

Are the Phenolic Wheels on the Model 9 heavy-duty industrial caster worth the higher cost?

Yes, the Phenolic Wheel’s low cost, non-marking design, and resistance to flat spots make it a cost-effective choice for heavy duty industrial casters supporting large, stationary loads in industrial environments.

What bearing options are available for the Model 9 heavy-duty industrial caster with Phenolic Wheel?

The Model 9 industrial caster with Phenolic Wheel comes standard with roller bearings, with precision sealed ball bearings as an option, ensuring reliable performance for heavy duty casters.

Can the Model 9 heavy-duty industrial caster with Phenolic Wheel be customized?

Yes, options for heavy duty casters include wheel brakes to lock the wheel and swivel locks for direct line travel. Contact Caster City at sales@castercity.com for customization details for industrial casters.

What is the benefit of the swivel design in the Model 9 heavy-duty industrial caster with Phenolic Wheel?

The swivel design, with two rows of balls on heat-treated raceways and a 5/8-inch nut and bolt center pin, withstands normal abuse, providing easier swiveling for heavy duty industrial casters in manually moved applications.

What are the operating conditions for the Model 9 heavy-duty industrial caster with Phenolic Wheel?

The Model 9 industrial caster with Phenolic Wheel operates from -40°F to 250°F on dry surfaces, not suited for excessive water, oil, or chemical exposure, as phenolic can absorb these, ideal for heavy duty casters in controlled settings.

What are the mounting plate specifications for the Model 9 heavy-duty industrial caster with Phenolic Wheel?

The Model 9 heavy duty industrial caster has a mounting plate (size varies, contact Caster City), with 1/4-inch thick legs, using a 1/2-inch axle for a 2 7/16-inch hub width wheel, securing heavy duty caster installation.

Where can I purchase the Model 9 heavy-duty industrial caster with Phenolic Wheel?

Order the Model 9 heavy-duty industrial caster with Phenolic Wheel at www.castercity.com or email sales@castercity.com for heavy duty casters tailored to your needs.

What precautions should I take when installing the Model 9 heavy-duty industrial caster with Phenolic Wheel?

Ensure proper mounting with a 1/2-inch axle for the 2 7/16-inch hub width wheel, avoid excessive water or chemical exposure, and use on dry surfaces, as phenolic can absorb moisture, for heavy duty industrial casters.

Can the Model 9 heavy-duty industrial caster with Phenolic Wheel handle high-traffic industrial environments?

Yes, the Phenolic Wheel’s non-marking, hard composition design supports large loads in high-traffic areas, making the Model 9 industrial caster suitable for heavy duty casters in manufacturing or warehouse settings, if kept dry.

Why are the Model 9 heavy-duty industrial caster’s Phenolic Wheels ideal for heavy static loads?

The Phenolic Wheel’s hard composition resists flat spots under heavy static loads up to 1,200 lbs for 6-inch and 8-inch sizes, perfect for prolonged standing in heavy duty industrial casters in industrial applications.

Why choose Phenolic Wheels for the Model 9 heavy-duty industrial caster?

Phenolic Wheels offer a low-cost, non-marking solution for heavy duty industrial casters, withstanding shock loads and supporting large, stationary loads without flat spots, though not suited for wet or chemical-heavy environments.
