Description
Swivel Radius for 3 inch PTB brake = 4-3/8″ ± 1/8″
Plate Caster Model 3 is a plate caster made using stamped steel with a bright zinc plated finish for rust protection. The mounting plate measures 2-3/8″ x 3-5/8″ with a 1-3/4″ x 3″, slotted to 1-3/4″ x 2-7/8″ designed for a 5/16″ mounting bolt. This plate caster uses a 3/8″ diameter bolt axle with a locking nut and the swivel is assembled using a 1/2″ diameter rivet. Two rows of ball bearings on hardened raceways provide smooth swiveling and long caster life. There is a metal dust cover that shields the swivel raceways from dirt and dust. Features wheels with 1-1/4″ and 1-1/2″ tread widths. Ideal for dry cleaning facilities, laundromat equipment, and garment rack dollies. This zinc plated caster is NSF listed. A Stainless Steel Model 3 version is also available for wet or corrosive applications.
This polyurethane caster wheel is made from injection molded polyurethane, making it a non-marking wheel and great for hospitals, service carts, food carts, and more. This injection molded polyurethane tire is a non-marking caster wheel, making it suitable for institutional applications such as a hospital, food service carts, computer carts, electronic and diagnostic equipment, office equipment, laboratory equipment, or light toolboxes. These caster wheels are especially suited for use in research laboratories, hospitals, food service, schools, bakeries and other institutional applications. These caster wheels are easier rolling than gray rubber on smooth floors. They withstand exposure to many chemicals and solvents. The durometer of this injection molded polyurethane caster wheel is 90-95A, making it ideal for vibration and noise reduction. This polyurethane caster wheel is assembled with a sealed precision ball bearing that is further guarded by two plastic spanner bushings which also act as thread guards, rotating against the axle and further protecting the bearing from direct water or chemical exposure. Injection molded caster wheels are not designed to carry large amounts of weight in static load applications, please consult with us for a better choice. Ideal for research laboratories, bakeries, and schools.
If you have a static (standing) load, or an application that requires a higher capacity polyurethane wheel in a swivel caster, please consider our liquid cast, Blue Polyurethane on Aluminum (“PA”) industrial caster wheel.
FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions about the Plate Caster Model 3 with Polyurethane on Polyolefin Wheel
What is the load capacity of the Plate Caster Model 3 with Polyurethane on Polyolefin Wheel?
The Plate Caster Model 3 has a load capacity of up to 350 pounds per caster. For applications where the caster is parked for prolonged periods, do not exceed 50% of the rated capacity (175 pounds per caster) to maintain wheel integrity.
What materials are used in the construction of the Plate Caster Model 3?
The caster is made of stamped steel with bright zinc plating for corrosion resistance. It features a ⅜” diameter axle and a ½” diameter rivet for the swivel, along with two ball bearings on hardened raceways and a metal dust cap to protect the swivel raceways from dirt and dust.
What are the dimensions and mounting details of the Plate Caster Model 3?
The mounting plate measures 2 3/8” x 3 5/8” with a slotted hole pattern of 1 3/4” x 2 7/8” – 3”, designed to accommodate 5/16” mounting bolts.
What are the key features of the Polyurethane on Polyolefin Wheel?
The wheel features injection-molded polyurethane tires mechanically bonded to a polyolefin center, available in red, gray, black, or blue. It has a durometer of Shore 95A, precision sealed ball bearings, and is non-marking. It withstands exposure to many chemicals and solvents and comes with thread guards to protect the bearings.
In what environments is this caster and wheel combination best suited?
This combination is ideal for research laboratories, hospitals, food service areas, schools, bakeries, and other institutional settings. It’s also suitable for light industrial applications on smooth floors where corrosion resistance, quiet operation, and hygiene (NSF listing) are important.
What are the temperature limitations for the Polyurethane on Polyolefin Wheel?
The wheel is recommended for use between 32°F and 180°F. Avoid using it outside this range to ensure performance and durability.
What are the advantages of the swivel design in the Plate Caster Model 3?
The swivel caster includes two ball bearings on hardened raceways and a metal dust cap, ensuring smooth, reliable operation while protecting the raceways from dirt and dust.
How does the Polyurethane on Polyolefin Wheel protect floors and reduce noise?
The non-marking polyurethane tire rolls smoothly and quietly on smooth floors, offering better performance than gray rubber wheels. It protects floors from damage and reduces operational noise.
What are the limitations of the Polyurethane on Polyolefin Wheel?
It’s not suitable for shock loads, impact, floor obstructions, or static loads. Avoid rough or uneven floors, and limit parked loads to 175 pounds per caster to prevent damage.
How should I maintain the Plate Caster Model 3 with Polyurethane on Polyolefin Wheel?
Minimal maintenance is required. The sealed ball bearings in the wheel and swivel raceways are protected by a metal dust cap and thread guards. Regularly inspect for wear and keep clean to ensure longevity.
What is the purpose of the thread guards on the Polyurethane on Polyolefin Wheel?
Thread guards act as spanner bushings, protecting the sealed ball bearings from corrosion and preventing threads from interfering with the axle, ensuring smooth wheel rotation.
Is the Plate Caster Model 3 NSF listed?
Yes, it is NSF listed, making it suitable for environments requiring high sanitation standards, such as food service and healthcare settings.
What tread widths are available for the wheels on the Plate Caster Model 3?
The wheels are available with tread widths of 1-¼” and 1-½”, providing options for different applications.
