Description

Stem Caster Model 3 by Caster City is a swivel caster featuring stamped steel construction and a bright zinc plated finish. Uses a stem that inserts into equipment socket holes instead of a bolt-on plate. Available with grip ring, threaded, expanding adapter, or square and round metal stems. Hardened raceways with two rows of ball bearings deliver smooth and lasting swivel action. A metal dust cover over the swivel raceways keeps dirt and dust out. The 3/8″ diameter bolt axle with lock nut secures the wheel and the 1/2″ diameter rivet secures the swivel section. Capacity up to 350 lbs per caster depending on stem type. Features 1-1/4″ wide wheels. Multiple wheel and brake options are available. Ideal for tool storage cabinets, parts bins, and shop supply carts with socket holes. This caster is NSF listed.

Phenolic caster wheels come standard with a roller bearing and have precision sealed ball bearings as an option. With a hardness comparable to polished maple flooring and a Durometer of Shore D 90, these wheels are designed to handle large loads comparable to metal wheels without developing flat spots, even when parked for prolonged periods under load. Available in diameters from 3” to 18” and widths from 1-¼” to 4”, they come standard with roller bearings or optional precision sealed ball bearings, making them perfect for smooth concrete surfaces in industrial settings like warehouses or manufacturing facilities.

These phenolic caster wheels are highly resistant to oil, grease, gasoline, and mild acids, and can withstand shock loads and impacts from small obstructions. They are recommended for storage loads without permanent set and offer slight floor wear, except on already deteriorating surfaces. For enhanced performance, a laminated unmacerated tread option provides 25% more capacity and greater chip resistance, though the wheel material may chip or cut from contact with steel plates or rough surfaces. With a temperature range of -40°F to +250°F, and intermittent use up to 300°F, these wheels are built for durability in dry environments where they excel in supporting heavy static loads.

While Phenolic Caster Wheels are tough and versatile, they are not suitable for wet applications or environments with excessive exposure to water, oil, or chemicals, as they can slowly absorb these substances and fail over time.
