Description
Model 3 Swivel Casters are made from stamped steel construction and finished with bright zinc plating for rust protection. The mounting plate is 2-3/8″ x 3-5/8″ with a 1-3/4″ x 3″, slotted to 1-3/4″ x 2-7/8″ and uses a 5/16″ mounting bolt. A 3/8″ diameter bolt axle with a locking nut supports the wheel and a 1/2″ diameter rivet holds the swivel assembly in place. Two rows of ball bearings on hardened raceways provide smooth swiveling and extended caster life. There is a metal dust cover over the swivel raceways that shields them from dirt and dust. Wheels with 1-1/4″ and 1-1/2″ tread widths are available for this caster. Ideal for pharmaceutical manufacturing, bakeries, and institutional kitchens. This zinc plated caster is NSF listed. This caster is also available in Stainless Steel for wet or corrosive environments.
This caster comes with a gray, non-marking, injection molded thermoplastic rubber tire mechanically bonded to a polyolefin center. These caster wheels are popular on equipment in pharmaceutical laboratories, hospitals, food service and other institutional applications. Soft rubber provides more desirable operating characteristics than any other wheel material. These gray soft rubber wheels are non-marking, quiet, absorb shock (prolonging equipment life and protecting cargo), can roll over small objects, protect costly floor surfaces, and minimize vibration. These caster wheels provide a softer ride than polyurethane and yet withstand exposure to many chemicals and solvents. The durometer of this soft gray rubber caster wheel is 90-95A, making it ideal for vibration and noise reduction. This caster wheel has a sealed precision ball bearing protected with plastic spanner bushings that reduce the inner diameter of the axle, act as thread guards, and guard the bearing from indirect and direct moisture exposure. The Soft Gray Rubber Caster Wheel has precision sealed ball bearings requiring no maintenance. These caster wheels should not be left standing under load for extended periods as the tires may take a permanent “set” or develop flat spots. Ideal for hospitals, pharmaceutical laboratories, and food service applications.
FAQ
FAQ – Model 3 Swivel Caster with RF Soft Gray Rubber Wheel
What is the Model 3 caster with RF Soft Gray Rubber Wheel designed for?
The Model 3 caster with RF Soft Gray Rubber Wheel is designed for institutional environments like hospitals, schools, and offices, where quiet operation, floor protection, and easy maneuverability are essential.
What sizes are available for the RF Soft Gray Rubber Wheel in the Model 3 caster?
The RF Soft Gray Rubber Wheel for the Model 3 caster is available in a 1.25″ width with diameters of 3″, 4″, and 5″, providing options for different clearance and mobility needs.
What bearing type comes with the RF wheel in the Model 3 caster?
The RF wheel in the Model 3 caster comes exclusively with precision sealed ball bearings, ensuring smooth, maintenance-free operation.
What are the main benefits of the RF Soft Gray Rubber Wheel in institutional settings?
The RF wheel offers a quiet, shock-absorbing ride that protects floors, reduces noise, and minimizes vibration, making it ideal for sensitive environments like hospitals and schools.
How does the Model 3 caster differ from industrial casters?
The Model 3 is an institutional caster, designed for lighter-duty use with a focus on aesthetics, noise reduction, and floor protection, unlike industrial casters built for heavy loads and rough conditions.
What are the thread guards on the RF wheel, and why are they important?
The RF wheel includes thread guards to prevent debris like hair or threads from entangling in the wheel, which is crucial for maintaining cleanliness in environments like hospitals.
Can the Model 3 caster with RF wheel be used in wet environments?
The RF wheel can handle light exposure to water, but the caster frame’s material must be considered. For wet settings, a stainless steel frame is recommended.
What is the durometer of the RF Soft Gray Rubber Wheel, and why does it matter?
The RF wheel has a 75A durometer, providing softness for shock absorption and floor protection, which is key in institutional settings where noise and vibration control are priorities.
How do I choose the right diameter for the RF wheel in the Model 3 caster?
Smaller diameters (3″) are better for low-clearance equipment, while larger ones (5″) handle uneven floors more easily. Select based on your equipment’s height and floor conditions.
What maintenance does the RF wheel in the Model 3 caster require?
The RF wheel’s precision sealed ball bearings require no maintenance, ensuring smooth, long-term performance with minimal upkeep.
