Description
4″ Gray Soft Rubber Precision Sealed Ball Bearings. Shown with 5″ Wheel.
Plate Caster Model K3 is made from stamped steel frames with a zinc plating to resist corrosion. This plate caster uses a ⅜” diameter axle and the swivel caster raceway is held together by a ½” diameter rivet. Plate Caster Model K3 caster brackets have two rows of ball bearings rotating on raceways for smoother swiveling. There is a solid cover over the swivel raceways to shield them from dirt and dust. Plate caster Model K3 uses a larger plate which is intended to make fabrication easier since it also uses a larger bolt size which is easier to handle. This plate caster performs best if you limit the load to no more than 1200 lbs on a set of 4 Model K3 casters.
This caster comes with a gray, non-marking, injection molded thermoplastic rubber tire mechanically bonded to a polyolefin center. This institutional caster wheel was designed to use a ⅜” axel and the tread width of the tire is 1-¼”.This soft gray rubber caster wheel comes with a durometer of 90-95A, making it excellent for indoor usage on smooth surfaces to reduce noise and vibration. This caster wheel has a sealed precision ball bearing protected with plastic spanner bushings that reduce the inner diameter of the axle, act as thread guards, and guard the bearing from indirect and direct moisture exposure. Injection molded wheels such as this soft rubber swivel wheel are not the best choice for standing loads that are moved infrequently.
In a hospital kitchen where food service carts need to roll quietly without scuffing the floors, Caster City’s Soft Gray Rubber Caster Wheel keeps things moving smoothly. Its gray non-marking thermoplastic rubber tread, bonded to a polyolefin center, absorbs shocks to protect both the cart and delicate cargo, while rolling over small debris with ease. With precision sealed ball bearings that need no maintenance, this wheel cuts down on noise and vibration, making it a great fit for places like pharmaceutical labs, hospitals, and food service setups where clean, quiet operation is a must.
This wheel handles exposure to chemicals and solvents without breaking a sweat, but it’s not built for heavy-duty abuse—think overloading, rough floors, or leaving it standing under weight for too long, as that can lead to flat spots. If you’re pushing it manually, cut the load capacity by 50% to make it easier to move, and go for the largest diameter you can to keep things rolling smoothly. Designed for dry factory floors, the Soft Gray Rubber Caster Wheel protects pricey surfaces and prolongs equipment life, but watch out for heat buildup or harsh impacts that might affect the bonding over time.
