Description

3″ All Polyurethane Wheel.Delrin Bearing in Wheel. Shown with 5″ Wheel.

Plate Caster Model K3 is made using a stamped steel construction and is zinc plated. This plate caster uses a ⅜” diameter axle and the swivel caster raceway is held together by a ½” diameter rivet. Plate Caster Model K3 contains two ball bearings in the swivel and the raceways have been hardened for long performance life. There is a solid cover over the swivel raceways to shield them from dirt and dust. This caster’s larger plate size makes it easier to fabricate with, which is it’s primary selling point. This plate caster performs best if you limit the load to no more than 1200 lbs on a set of 4 Model K3 casters.

This solid all polyurethane industrial caster wheel was developed for sanitary and washdown applications, and is capable of rolling indoors or outdoors. The blue all polyurethane (“AP”) caster wheel is manufactured in 1-¼” wide and with diameters ranging from 3”-5”. Caster City manufactures this 1-1/4″ wide (“AP”) blue all polyurethane wheel to come with a steel spanner bushing which is available in stainless steel as well upon request. The temperature range of this industrial caster wheel is -50°to 180° F and the durometer of the polyurethane is Shore 60D.

These wheels are non marking and non conductive. The absence of a metal center eliminates bond failure as a cause for wheel replacement. These caster wheels are especially suited for use with stainless steel casters in wet and corrosive applications. They are designed for use in Pharmaceutical Laboratories, Hospitals, and Food Processing Plants – wherever a clean sanitary design is desired. These wheels are not recommended for applications involving shock, overloading, abuse, obstructions, poor floors, or for storage (standing) loads.

These wheels are designed for use in a wet environment and they eliminate the possibility of tire separation.

If a static load on this tire exceeds 60% of the rated capacity and is left unmoved for a prolonged period of time, the tire may develop a flat spot. Durometer : Shore D 60.

FAQ

Plate Caster Model K3 with AP Solid All Polyurethane Wheel

What is the Plate Caster Model K3 with AP Solid All Polyurethane Wheel?

The Plate Caster Model K3 with AP Solid All Polyurethane Wheel is a swivel plate caster or rigid plate caster featuring a blue, non-marking, solid polyurethane wheel with a zinc-plated or stainless steel bracket. With a 1.25” tread width, 5” diameter, Delrin bearing, and 300 lbs capacity per caster (1200 lbs for four), this industrial caster is NSF-rated, ideal for sanitary washdown settings like food processing plants, hospitals, or labs.

Why choose these industrial casters for washdown environments?

This light duty industrial caster features a washable, solid polyurethane wheel with water-draining surfaces and a corrosion-resistant plate caster bracket, supporting 300 lbs. NSF-rated for wet or dry settings, it’s perfect for casters and wheels in food processing, hospitals, or labs, ensuring hygiene and floor protection.

How does the AP Wheel’s water-draining design benefit this plate caster?

The AP Wheel’s angled surfaces drain water post-washdown, preventing buildup and maintaining hygiene, paired with the swivel plate caster’s stainless steel option for corrosion resistance. This caster excels in sanitary settings like food processing plants or hospitals.

How do these casters and wheels protect floors in sensitive environments?

The non-marking AP Wheel in this plate caster protects floors like tile or linoleum, with the light duty industrial caster’s sturdy bracket ensuring controlled movement in hospitals, labs, or food service, preventing floor damage.

How easy is it to roll the Plate Caster Model K3 with AP Solid All Polyurethane Wheel?

This industrial caster rolls smoothly at 300 lbs capacity on smooth floors due to the AP Wheel’s solid polyurethane, flat tread, and Delrin bearing, enhanced by the swivel plate caster’s maneuverability, ideal for infrequent moves in labs or food processing plants.

Can these casters and wheels be parked under load?

Avoid parking under loads exceeding 60% of the 300 lbs capacity (180 lbs) for long periods to prevent flat spotting. The plate caster’s polyurethane wheel ensures reliability for stationary equipment in food processing or labs when used cautiously.

Are these light duty industrial casters suitable for rough floors?

No, the AP Wheel in this light duty industrial caster is designed for smooth, dry or wet floors without obstructions. It’s ideal for casters in sanitary settings like hospitals, labs, or food processing plants, not rough or abusive environments.

Can the Plate Caster Model K3 with AP Wheel be used in corrosive environments?

Yes, the AP Wheel resists many chemicals, and the stainless steel plate caster option ensures durability in corrosive, wet environments like food processing or labs. The zinc-plated frame is less suitable for prolonged wet conditions.

Do these industrial casters require maintenance?

The Delrin bearing in the AP Wheel and swivel plate caster’s sealed swivel bearings are low-maintenance, requiring only occasional cleaning to maintain hygiene in washdown settings like food processing or labs.

What are the mounting specs for this plate caster?

The Plate Caster Model K3 has a 3-1/8” x 4-1/8” top plate with a 2-3/8” x 3-3/8” bolt hole spacing (slotted to 1-3/4” x 2-15/16”), using 3/8” bolts, easing fabrication for light duty industrial casters in sanitary settings.

Is the Plate Caster Model K3 with AP Wheel NSF-rated for food service?

Yes, this light duty industrial caster and its AP Wheel are NSF-rated, making it ideal for casters and wheels in food service, hospitals, or labs where hygiene and non-marking performance are critical.

How do I select the AP Wheel for swivel plate casters?

Choose a 1.25” wide, 5” diameter AP Wheel with a 3/8” axle and Delrin bearing for swivel plate casters like Model K3, ensuring non-marking, sanitary performance in labs or food processing (3”–4” diameters also available).

How does this industrial caster compare to nylon casters for sanitary settings?

The Plate Caster Model K3 with AP Wheel offers better shock absorption than nylon casters, with a 300 lbs capacity. Nylon may resist more chemicals, but this light duty industrial caster prioritizes floor protection in hospitals or food service.

What role does the rigid design play in this plate caster?

The rigid plate caster prevents sideways movement, aiding straight-line travel for equipment with casters and wheels, enhancing control for heavy, infrequent moves in food processing or hospitals, with brake options for stability.

Can this plate caster handle loads in food processing plants?

Yes, this swivel plate caster supports 300 lbs per caster (1200 lbs for four), with the AP Wheel’s water-draining, non-marking design ensuring hygienic, reliable movement in food processing plants or labs on smooth floors.

What are the advantages of the Plate Caster Model K3 with AP Wheel?

This light duty industrial caster combines the AP Wheel’s non-marking, washable polyurethane with the swivel plate caster or rigid bracket’s larger plate for easy fabrication, delivering hygienic, durable movement for casters and wheels in hospitals, labs, or food service.

How do these industrial casters benefit schools or office environments?

The Plate Caster Model K3 with AP Wheel ensures quiet, non-marking rolling and floor protection, making it ideal for light duty industrial casters in schools or offices. Its ergonomic flat tread and Delrin bearing reduce noise, perfect for moving carts in libraries or classrooms.

Why are these casters and wheels suited for retail or small warehouses?

This swivel plate caster supports 300 lbs with the AP Wheel’s smooth, low-maintenance rolling, ideal for industrial casters in retail (e.g., display racks) or small warehouses (e.g., light carts). The non-marking, hygienic design protects floors in light-duty industrial settings.
