Description
The Model 3 Plate Caster is built from stamped steel and is bright zinc plated for corrosion resistance. The mounting plate measures 2-3/8″ x 3-5/8″ and the hole pattern is 1-3/4″ x 3″, slotted to 1-3/4″ x 2-7/8″ and is designed for a 5/16″ mounting bolt. This plate caster has a 3/8″ diameter bolt axle with a locking nut and the swivel is held together by a 1/2″ diameter rivet. Two rows of ball bearings on hardened raceways in the swivel ensure long caster life. There is a metal dust cover that protects the swivel raceways from dirt and dust intrusion. Features wheels with 1-1/4″ and 1-1/2″ tread widths. Ideal for light assembly workstations, electronics repair benches, and instrument carts. This zinc plated caster is NSF listed. This caster can also be supplied in Stainless Steel Model 3 for wet or corrosive environments.
The “RF” soft gray rubber caster wheel is a non-marking soft rubber tire locked to an industrial plastic center. These caster wheels are popular on equipment in pharmaceutical laboratories, hospitals, food service and other institutional applications. Soft rubber provides more desirable operating characteristics than any other wheel material. These gray soft rubber wheels are non-marking, quiet, absorb shock (prolonging equipment life and protecting cargo), can roll over small objects, protect costly floor surfaces, and minimize vibration. These caster wheels provide a softer ride than polyurethane and yet withstand exposure to many chemicals and solvents. They can be used in industrial applications which do not involve shock, overloading, abuse, obstructions, poor floors or storage (standing) loads. This caster wheel has a durometer of 90-95A which assists in vibration and noise dampening. This institutional gray soft rubber caster wheel is completed with plastic thread guards which act as spanner bushings for the sealed precision ball bearing in the center of the hub, providing ample protection for the bearing from direct moisture contact. Injection molded caster wheels are not designed to carry large amounts of weight in static load applications, please consult with us for a better choice. Ideal for hospitals, food service, and pharmaceutical laboratories.
FAQ
FAQ – Model 3 Swivel Caster with RF Soft Gray Rubber Wheel
What is the Model 3 caster with RF Soft Gray Rubber Wheel designed for?
The Model 3 caster with RF Soft Gray Rubber Wheel is designed for institutional environments like hospitals, schools, and offices, where quiet operation, floor protection, and easy maneuverability are essential.
What sizes are available for the RF Soft Gray Rubber Wheel in the Model 3 caster?
The RF Soft Gray Rubber Wheel for the Model 3 caster is available in a 1.25″ width with diameters of 3″, 4″, and 5″, providing options for different clearance and mobility needs.
What bearing type comes with the RF wheel in the Model 3 caster?
The RF wheel in the Model 3 caster comes exclusively with precision sealed ball bearings, ensuring smooth, maintenance-free operation.
What are the main benefits of the RF Soft Gray Rubber Wheel in institutional settings?
The RF wheel offers a quiet, shock-absorbing ride that protects floors, reduces noise, and minimizes vibration, making it ideal for sensitive environments like hospitals and schools.
How does the Model 3 caster differ from industrial casters?
The Model 3 is an institutional caster, designed for lighter-duty use with a focus on aesthetics, noise reduction, and floor protection, unlike industrial casters built for heavy loads and rough conditions.
What are the thread guards on the RF wheel, and why are they important?
The RF wheel includes thread guards to prevent debris like hair or threads from entangling in the wheel, which is crucial for maintaining cleanliness in environments like hospitals.
Can the Model 3 caster with RF wheel be used in wet environments?

What is the durometer of the RF Soft Gray Rubber Wheel, and why does it matter?
The RF wheel has a 75A durometer, providing softness for shock absorption and floor protection, which is key in institutional settings where noise and vibration control are priorities.
How do I choose the right diameter for the RF wheel in the Model 3 caster?
Smaller diameters (3″) are better for low-clearance equipment, while larger ones (5″) handle uneven floors more easily. Select based on your equipment’s height and floor conditions.
What maintenance does the RF wheel in the Model 3 caster require?
The RF wheel’s precision sealed ball bearings require no maintenance, ensuring smooth, long-term performance with minimal upkeep.
