Description

Model 3 Rigid Casters are the matching rigid plate caster for the Model 3 Swivel. The top plate measures 2-3/8″ x 3-5/8″ and the hole pattern is 1-3/4″ x 3″, slotted to 1-3/4″ x 2-7/8″ designed for 5/16″ mounting bolts. A 3/8″ diameter bolt axle with a locking nut supports the wheel and this caster accepts 1-1/4″ and 1-1/2″ wide wheels. The rigid is welded leg construction. Multiple wheels and brake options are offered. When moving equipment by hand with 4 swivel casters it can be hard to control the direction you are pushing or pulling. Rigid casters help in controlling the direction when equipment is being moved in a direct line. Equipment with rigids can not move sideways. Ideal for ice cream parlor equipment, frozen yogurt shop carts, and dessert service stations. This plate caster is NSF listed. A Stainless Steel Model 3 version is also available for wet or corrosive environments.

The UXY industrial caster wheel is defined by its extra-thick, highly resilient polyurethane tire. This caster wheel comes with an orange or maroon, extra-thick and highly resilient polyurethane tire with an 80A Shore Durometer hardness. The polyurethane compound in this caster wheel is designed to be our most resilient polyurethane wheel, meaning that this industrial caster wheel deflects against the ground so strongly it helps maintain movement with less effort. This crown-tread wheel is excellent for offering the highest possible maneuverability, changing directions easier than a flat tread wheel. The rapid rebound action of this industrial caster wheel enables a highly resilient ride, protecting cargo and enabling higher capacity while enabling one man to push more weight than he normally would with other polyurethane or rubber caster wheels. This caster wheel is equipped with two large precision sealed ball bearings. The cushion tread offers a quiet ride that actually helps to roll the load instead of resisting motion. Ideal for assembly line carts, warehouse equipment, and towed tugger trains.

FAQ

Plate Caster Model 3 with UXY Polyurethane on Aluminum Wheel

What is the UXY Polyurethane on Aluminum Wheel on the Plate Caster Model 3?

The UXY Wheel is a blue, non-marking, liquid-cast polyurethane tire molded onto a precision-machined aluminum hub, featuring a slight crown tread and dual-row annular ball bearings. With a 1-1/4” tread width, 350 lbs capacity, and self-energizing polyurethane, it rolls easily even at full capacity, offering superior shock absorption and durability for heavy, infrequent-movement applications in hospitals, labs, and food service.

Why choose UXY Polyurethane Wheels for heavy institutional applications?

The UXY Wheel’s liquid-cast, self-energizing polyurethane and non-rusting aluminum hub provide excellent floor protection, quiet operation, and easy rolling at 350 lbs capacity. NSF-rated for dry settings, it’s ideal for heavy-load carts in hospitals, research labs, or food service, especially for infrequent movement.

How does the self-energizing polyurethane benefit the UXY Wheel?

The UXY Wheel’s self-energizing polyurethane has rapid rebound characteristics, reducing the force needed to start and maintain movement. It converts compression energy into forward momentum, minimizing operator fatigue and ensuring ergonomic performance in heavy applications like lab or hospital carts.

What role does the aluminum hub play in the UXY Polyurethane Wheel?

The precision-machined aluminum hub is lightweight, strong, and non-rusting, enhancing durability and corrosion resistance. Its robust design supports the chemically bonded polyurethane tire, ensuring reliable performance in dry settings like food service or research labs.

How does the crown tread enhance the UXY Polyurethane Wheel?

The UXY Wheel’s crown tread greatly reduces push/pull forces and simplifies direction changes, offering ergonomic benefits for heavy-load carts on smooth floors in light-duty industrial settings like hospitals, labs, or food service.

Can UXY Polyurethane Wheels handle chemicals in research labs?

Yes, the liquid-cast polyurethane tire resists many chemicals and solvents in dry lab settings. Avoid harsh chemicals to maintain the tire’s bond to the aluminum hub, ensuring longevity in research labs.

How easy is it to push the Plate Caster Model 3 with UXY Polyurethane Wheels?

The UXY Wheel rolls effortlessly even at 100% capacity (350 lbs) due to its self-energizing polyurethane, dual-row annular ball bearings, and slight crown tread, making it ideal for manual pushing on smooth floors in labs or hospitals.

Can I park the Plate Caster Model 3 with UXY Polyurethane Wheels under load?

Avoid parking under loads exceeding 70% of the 350 lbs capacity (245 lbs) for long periods. The polyurethane tire may develop flat spots, impacting performance in hospitals, labs, or food service settings.

Are UXY Polyurethane Wheels suitable for rough floors?

No, these polyurethane wheels are designed for smooth, dry floors without obstructions. They’re ideal for light-duty industrial settings like labs, hospitals, or food service, not environments with rough or abusive floors.

Do UXY Polyurethane Wheels on the Plate Caster Model 3 require maintenance?

No, the dual-row annular ball bearings are precision-sealed and maintenance-free. Regularly inspect for wear and keep the caster clean to ensure longevity in labs, hospitals, or food service areas.

What are the mounting specs for the Plate Caster Model 3 with UXY Polyurethane Wheels?

The Plate Caster Model 3 has a 2 3/8” x 3 5/8” top plate with a slotted bolt hole pattern of 1 3/4” x 2 7/8” to 3”, using 5/16” bolts, fitting standard industrial carts or shelving.

Can the Plate Caster Model 3 with UXY Polyurethane Wheels be used in wet environments?

The zinc-plated steel frame isn’t suited for wet, washdown, or corrosive conditions. Use UXY polyurethane wheels in dry settings like labs, hospitals, or food service to prevent rust and maintain performance.

Is the Plate Caster Model 3 with UXY Polyurethane Wheels NSF-rated for food service?

Yes, both the Plate Caster Model 3 and the UXY Wheel are NSF-rated, making them ideal for food service, hospitals, or research labs in dry environments where hygiene and floor protection are critical.

How do I replace the UXY Polyurethane Wheel on the Plate Caster Model 3?

Match the wheel’s diameter (3”, 4”, or 5”), 1-1/4” tread width, and 3/8” axle. Choose a blue polyurethane wheel with a slight crown tread, dual-row annular ball bearings, and an aluminum hub for the same high-quality, non-marking performance.

How do UXY Polyurethane Wheels compare to rubber wheels for industrial casters?

UXY polyurethane wheels roll easier than conventional rubber wheels, even at 350 lbs capacity, and offer better floor protection due to their liquid-cast polyurethane and self-energizing design. They’re ideal for heavy, infrequent-movement applications in labs or food service but require smooth floors.

What are the advantages of the swivel design in the Plate Caster Model 3?

The swivel design features two ball bearings on hardened raceways and a metal dust cap, ensuring smooth 360-degree movement and protecting the raceways from dirt and dust in industrial settings like labs or hospitals.
