Technical Specifications

Description
Model 150 Plate Casters with Rigid are used in conjunction with the same plate swivel caster. Plate Caster Model 150s usually have 4โ wide wheels with a 1 1/4โ diameter axle. The mounting plate is 5/8โ thick. The leg thickness is 1/2โ. These specs are designed to handle the most arduous caster tasks. Rigid Model 150 plate casters are moved with mechanically powered equipment. All of our frames are zinc plated for rust protection and wheel bearings have a grease fitting. Rigid casters are used to control the direction machine is moved when direct line travel is needed. The same model swivel casters should be connected nearest the push handle or tow bar. Rigid casters are not able to move sideways, you must select swivel casters for maximum mobility in enclosed space.
*This Plate Caster Model 150 contains theย Ultra High Capacity Polymer Wheel. The caster shown in photo with 10″ x 4″ wheel.

FAQ
Plate Caster Model 150 with NX Ultra High Capacity Polymer Wheel
What is the weight capacity of the Plate Caster Model 150 with NX polymer wheels?
The NX polymer wheel supports up to 8,000 lbs per wheel, while the Model 150 caster bracket can handle up to 20,000 lbs under ideal conditions (smooth floors, manual movement at 3 mph). Since the wheelโs capacity is the limiting factor, each caster effectively supports 8,000 lbs. For rough surfaces or powered applications, contact Caster City at 800-501-3808 to confirm the best setup.
What wheel sizes are available for the Plate Caster Model 150 with NX polymer wheels?
The NX polymer wheels for the Model 150 are 4 inches wide and available in 8-inch, 10-inch, or 12-inch diameters. Select the diameter based on your load and floor conditionsโlarger wheels perform better on uneven surfaces.
What materials are used in the Plate Caster Model 150 with NX polymer wheels?
The caster features ASTM1045 drop-forged steel construction with a 5/8โ thick swivel head, 1/2โ thick double-welded legs, and a 7โ raceway with 3/4โ hardened steel ball bearings, all zinc-plated for durability. The NX wheel is a non-marking, compression-molded black polymer, machined for strength.
Why choose NX polymer wheels for the Plate Caster Model 150?
NX polymer wheels handle heavy loads up to 8,000 lbs and are designed for gentle placement, such as with cranes in factories. Unlike steel wheels, they protect floors, and unlike polyurethane wheels, they resist flat spotting and delamination. Four precision sealed ball bearings ensure smooth rolling and low drawbar pull.
What bearings are used in the NX polymer wheels for the Plate Caster Model 150?
Each 4-inch wide NX wheel includes four large precision sealed ball bearings, providing smooth operation and minimal effort to move heavy loads. For specialized needs, such as extreme temperatures, reach out to Caster City at 800-501-3808.
Can the Plate Caster Model 150 with NX polymer wheels handle tough environments?
Yes, it operates between -20ยฐF and 250ยฐF, with a melting point near 500ยฐF, and resists corrosion and most chemicals. However, NX wheels are not built for shock loadsโuse them for gentle placement tasks. For shock-heavy jobs, consult Caster City for options.
How do NX polymer wheels in the Plate Caster Model 150 protect factory floors?
These non-marking wheels reduce floor wear compared to steel wheels, making them ideal for factories, shipyards, or observatories. For sensitive surfaces, pair with V-groove wheels on angle iron tracksโemail Caster City at sales@castercity.com for advice.
Which industries use the Plate Caster Model 150 with NX polymer wheels?
It serves aerospace, automotive, boat/yacht building, observatories, heavy manufacturing, and logistics. Itโs trusted for high-capacity tasks like moving yacht hulls, telescope roofs, aircraft components, and industrial carts, all while protecting floors.
What are the primary applications for the NX polymer wheels in the Plate Caster Model 150?
Key uses include boat/yacht building (hull and mold transport), observatories (telescope roof movement), aerospace (aircraft component handling), automotive (assembly line dollies), heavy manufacturing (equipment carts), and logistics (warehouse carts). Theyโre optimized for gentle load placement, not shock loads.
How do I maintain the Plate Caster Model 150 with NX polymer wheels?
Regularly lubricate the grease fittings on the casterโs raceway and axle. Consistent maintenance ensures reliable performance, especially for demanding tasks like yacht construction or observatory operations.
Can the Plate Caster Model 150 with NX polymer wheels be used with mechanically powered equipment?
Itโs designed for manual movement, but powered use is possible with customization. Contact Caster City at 800-501-3808 to adapt it safely, as NX wheels arenโt suited for shock loads from powered equipment.
What is the top plate size of the Plate Caster Model 150?
The top plate measures 8-1/2″ x 8-1/2″, matching the โFord standardโ for heavy-duty applications. It provides a robust mounting surface for equipment like yacht molds, telescope systems, or industrial carts.
