Description
Swivel Radius for 3 inch PTB brake = 4-3/8″ ± 1/8″
The matching rigid plate caster for Plate Caster Model 3 Swivel. The mounting plate measures 2-3/8″ x 3-5/8″ and the hole pattern is 1-3/4″ x 3″, slotted to 1-3/4″ x 2-7/8″ and is designed for 5/16″ mounting bolts. The rigid caster uses a 3/8″ diameter bolt axle with a locking nut and accepts 1-1/4″ and 1-1/2″ wide wheels. The caster is welded leg construction. Multiple wheel and brake options are available. When manually moving equipment supported by 4 swivel casters it can be tough to control which direction the equipment is going. Rigid casters are primarily used to control direction when equipment is being moved in straight line travel. Equipment with rigids can not move sideways. Ideal for hobby shop carts, model building stations, and craft supply storage. This plate caster is NSF listed. A Stainless Steel version is also offered for wet or corrosive environments.
This high quality maroon polyurethane caster wheel features an injection molded polyurethane tire mechanically bonded to a gray polyolefin center, designed for light duty applications requiring a compact 1.25″ wide wheel. The 60 Shore D durometer provides a harder, more durable tread with capacities up to 350 lbs per wheel. These non-marking, chemical-resistant caster wheels are especially suited for hospitals, food service, research laboratories, schools, bakeries and other institutional applications. They withstand exposure to many chemicals and solvents and roll easier than gray rubber on smooth floors. This caster wheel is and is available with annular ball bearings. Or Delrin bearings. The temperature range is -20°F to 180°F. Available in 3″, 4″, and 5″ diameters. Injection molded caster wheels are not designed for heavy static load applications. Ideal for light duty hospital carts, food service equipment, and laboratory instruments.
Caster City manufactures this plate caster in Stainless Steel. Caster City also manufactures this plate caster in Economy Stainless Steel. Both casters are NSF listed and RoHS Compliant.
FAQ
Plate Caster Model 3 with Premium Maroon Polyurethane Wheel (PM)
What are the Premium Maroon Polyurethane Wheels on the Plate Caster Model 3?
The Premium Maroon Polyurethane Wheel (PM) features a polyurethane tire mechanically locked to a polyolefin core, with dual-row annular ball bearings for superior rollability and a 350 lbs capacity. Its Shore 60D durometer ensures durability for institutional settings like hospitals, labs, or food service, though flat spots may occur under prolonged heavy loads.
Why use Premium Maroon Polyurethane Wheels for hospital equipment?
These PM polyurethane wheels roll effortlessly due to dual-row annular ball bearings, ideal for hospital carts or beds. NSF-listed and designed for dry institutional settings, they ensure smooth movement and equipment longevity on smooth floors.
Can I park the Plate Caster Model 3 with Premium Maroon Polyurethane Wheels under load?
Avoid parking under loads exceeding 60% of the 350 lbs capacity (210 lbs) for extended periods. The polyurethane tire may develop flat spots, affecting performance in settings like labs or food service.
What do dual-row annular ball bearings do in Premium Maroon Polyurethane Wheels?
Dual-row annular ball bearings enhance load capacity and make the PM wheels easier to roll than softer materials like TPR, perfect for institutional carts on smooth, dry floors in hospitals or schools.
Are Premium Maroon Polyurethane Wheels suitable for rough industrial floors?
No, these PM polyurethane wheels are built for smooth, dry factory floors without obstructions. They’re ideal for institutional settings like labs or hospitals, not harsh industrial environments.
What are the mounting specs for the Plate Caster Model 3 with PM Polyurethane Wheels?
The Plate Caster Model 3 has a 2 3/8” x 3 5/8” top plate with a slotted bolt hole pattern of 1 3/4” x 2 7/8” to 3”, using 5/16” bolts, fitting standard institutional carts or shelving.
Can the Plate Caster Model 3 with Premium Maroon Polyurethane Wheels be used in wet environments?
The zinc-plated steel frame isn’t suited for wet, washdown, or corrosive conditions. Use these PM polyurethane wheels in dry settings like labs or hospitals to prevent rust and maintain performance.
Do Premium Maroon Polyurethane Wheels on the Plate Caster Model 3 require maintenance?
No, the dual-row annular ball bearings are sealed and maintenance-free, keeping out dust for smooth, long-lasting performance on dry floors in labs, hospitals, or food service areas.
Is the Plate Caster Model 3 with Premium Maroon Polyurethane Wheels NSF-listed for food service?
Yes, the Plate Caster Model 3 is NSF-listed, suitable for food service or medical settings in dry environments. Check with the supplier to confirm the PM polyurethane wheels meet NSF standards.
How do I replace the Premium Maroon Polyurethane Wheel on the Plate Caster Model 3?
Match the wheel’s diameter (3”, 4”, or 5”), tread width (1-1/4” or 1-1/2”), and 3/8” axle. Choose a polyurethane wheel with dual-row annular ball bearings to maintain smooth, easy rolling.
How do Premium Maroon Polyurethane Wheels compare to TPR wheels for institutional casters?
PM polyurethane wheels roll more easily than TPR due to their Shore 60D durometer and dual-row bearings, but they’re less cushioned. They’re durable for hospitals or labs but may flat spot under heavy, prolonged loads, unlike TPR’s softer ride.
Can Premium Maroon Polyurethane Wheels handle heavy loads in a lab?
These PM wheels support up to 350 lbs each under ideal conditions, suitable for lab equipment like carts or racks. For manual movement, ensure even load distribution and avoid prolonged parking to prevent flat spotting.
