Plate Caster Model 9 swivel casters are our most popular industrial caster because of its low initial cost and wide selection of wheels. Under the mounting plate it has 2 rows of balls rotating on heat treated raceways. The swivel has a nut and bolt center pin welded to withstand normal abuse in a manually moved application. The kingpin bolt diameter is 5/8” and the leg thickness is 1/4”, welded on the inside and out. The diameter of the axle is ½” and is designed to use wheels with a hub width of 2 7/16”. This caster is constructed from stamped steel. The metal frames are zinc plated for rust resistance, and it has lubrication fittings for all moveable parts. Model 9 has a broad selection of wheel brakes and swivel locks for most applications. Other mounting plate sizes and wheel bearing types are available on request.
The “PYC” polyurethane caster wheel has a heavy-duty iron center and its liquid caster tire is chemically bonded to the hub. This “PYC” Caster wheel carries more weight than your standard polyurethane caster wheel due to having a thicker tire and thicker center. This “PYC” caster wheel has a slight crown on the polyurethane tire which helps with changing directions when the load is standing still or moving. Polyurethane caster wheels can have their chemical bonds weakened by overloading, chemical exposure, heat from continuous usage, or heavy impacts.
Polyurethane wheels are chosen when higher loads are needed to roll on floors due to offering more floor protection than what a hard composition caster wheel can.The temperature range of this caster wheel is -20° to 180° F and the durometer of the polyurethane tire is 95 Shore A, and is available in either 2” or 3” wide.
This caster is available in Stainless Steel Model 9. It is constructed from 304 Stainless Steel. This is an excellent caster for wet or corrosive applications if your total weight exceeds 1000lbs. It comes with the same large selection of wheels, some of which are also NSF and ROHS compliant.
