Stem Casters are a type of caster wheel that mounts to equipment using a stem rather than a mounting plate and makes them ideal for applications with limited mounting space available. They come in various stem types including threaded, grip ring, expanding rubber, and metal (square/round). Each stem module type is designed to fit different tubing or frame structures and allow for smooth mobility. Stem Casters are most commonly used on carts, furniture, and medical equipment. We offer stem casters with load capacities as small as 250 lbs and as strong as 1,500 lbs, with many pedal and foot brake options available.

We offer a wide range of caster wheels designed for various use applications, including light-duty furniture, industrial machinery, and medical equipment and more to suit your unique or different mobility needs.
Total locking brakes are a popular choice when safety and stability. We offer brakes on both stem and plate casters. These brakes are designed to lock both the wheel and the swivel at the same time, so once they’re engaged, the caster won’t roll, pivot, or move.
Total locks are widely used in a variety of settings such as warehouses, medical facilities, food service environments, and even heavy duty industrial settings. They’re the perfect caster for mobile equipment that needs to be rolled into place and then stay firmly in position carts, racks, prep tables, or mobile workstations.
If you’re not sure what kind of brake or caster setup works best for your home or business needs, our Caster City sales team is here to help. With decades of experience, we’ll guide you to the right solution for your application and make sure you get exactly what you need for the job.
Stainless steel casters, offered in both plate and stem mounting styles, are built for use in wet, corrosive, or high-temperature environments where durability and cleanliness are critical. These casters are available in both 304 and 316 stainless steel—the former offering strong corrosion resistance for general industrial and food service use, and the latter providing superior protection against harsh chemicals and saltwater, making it ideal for marine and pharmaceutical applications. Designed to handle temperatures up to 450°F when paired with high-temp wheels and raceway seals, these casters perform reliably in extreme heat such as in autoclaves or commercial ovens.
Caster City’s stainless steel casters are built with longevity and performance in mind. Each unit includes a grease fitting in the swivel bearing for easy maintenance, protective seals, and a dust cover to guard internal components from contaminants. Whether you choose 304 for its broad utility or 316 for its maximum corrosion resistance, these casters ensure smooth, low-maintenance mobility in the most demanding conditions.
These industrial pneumatic casters feature air filled pneumatic wheels. These industrial casters are designed for low speed manually moved applications only. Air filled pneumatic wheels provide a cushioned ride, shock absorption and quiet operation. Pneumatic casters are ideally suited for moving fragile or delicate cargo where caster overall height is not critical. Casters with pneumatic wheels are usually the best choice for use outdoors over rough surfaces ( i.e. gravel ) or on grass. The wide footprint on 8″ or larger pneumatic wheels provides stability on gravel and does not sink into lawns.
Pneumatic casters and pneumatic wheels are also popular for indoor use in places such as hospitals, scientific and electronic laboratories, hotels, department stores and TV or movie studios.
Pneumatic wheels with black tires do not mark the floor as long as the wheel is allowed to roll. Changing directions without allowing a swivel caster to turn gradually around, or dragging a black rubber wheel sideways, can mark some floors.
Caster City offers a wide range of office and furniture casters designed for smooth, quiet movement across carpet, tile, and hardwood floors. If you’re upgrading desk chairs, file cabinets, mobile workstations, or anything else your office needs our casters provide durability, ease of movement, and a professional finish that complements any office setup.

Phenolic caster wheels are made from macerated canvas mixed with phenolic resin, and molded under high pressure and temperature. Its hardness is comparable to polished maple flooring. Phenolic caster wheels are recommended for smooth concrete and can be used for storage (standing) loads without permanent set. These caster wheels are highly resistant to oil, grease, gasoline and mild acids. It is not recommended for wet applications where the wheel will be in standing water. They are affected in various degrees by strong acids and some alkaline solutions. Temperature range is -40° to +250° F, with intermittent use up to 300° F. Phenolic caster wheels will carry loads as great as the same size iron wheel. The wheel material may chip or cut from contact with steel plate or from rolling over steel parts on the floor. The wheel tread may show wear from repeated travel over rough surfaces. Floor wear is slight except where floors are already starting to deteriorate. These wheels can be made with a laminated unmacerated tread to provide 25% more capacity and greater chip resistance.
Caster City manufactures this plate caster in Stainless Steel. Caster City also manufactures this plate caster in Economy Stainless Steel. Both casters are NSF listed and RoHS Compliant.

Phenolic Caster Wheels from Caster City
Our Phenolic Caster Wheels, made from macerated canvas mixed with phenolic resin and molded under high pressure and temperature are a cost-effective, hard-composition, non-marking solution ideal for supporting heavy stationary loads that move infrequently. With a hardness comparable to polished maple flooring and a Durometer of Shore D 90, these wheels are designed to handle large loads comparable to metal wheels without developing flat spots, even when parked for prolonged periods under load. Available in diameters from 3” to 18” and widths from 1-¼” to 4”, they come standard with roller bearings or optional precision sealed ball bearings, making them perfect for smooth concrete surfaces in industrial settings like warehouses or manufacturing facilities.
These phenolic caster wheels are highly resistant to oil, grease, gasoline, and mild acids, and can withstand shock loads and impacts from small obstructions. They are recommended for storage loads without permanent set and offer slight floor wear, except on already deteriorating surfaces. For enhanced performance, a laminated unmacerated tread option provides 25% more capacity and greater chip resistance, though the wheel material may chip or cut from contact with steel plates or rough surfaces. With a temperature range of -40°F to +250°F, and intermittent use up to 300°F, these wheels are built for durability in dry environments where they excel in supporting heavy static loads.
While Phenolic Caster Wheels are tough and versatile, they are not suitable for wet applications or environments with excessive exposure to water, oil, or chemicals, as they can slowly absorb these substances and fail over time. For applications involving routine moisture or strong acids and alkaline solutions, consider alternative wheel materials. Ideal for dry, high-capacity settings requiring impact resistance and floor protection, these wheels are a reliable, economical choice. Contact Caster City at 800-501-3808 for assistance with custom configurations or to place an order for our durable Phenolic Caster Wheels.
What is the Plate Caster Model 3 with TM Phenolic Wheel?
The Plate Caster Model 3 with TM Phenolic Wheel is a swivel plate caster featuring a non-marking, hard phenolic wheel with a zinc-plated steel bracket. With a 1.25” tread width, 3”, 4”, or 5” diameters, plain bore, and 350 lbs capacity, this industrial caster supports heavy, stationary loads without flat spotting, ideal for dry settings like warehouses or factories.
Why choose these industrial casters for heavy, stationary loads?
This plate caster combines a hard phenolic wheel with a durable swivel plate caster bracket, supporting 350 lbs without flat spotting. Non-marking and shock-resistant, it’s a low-cost light duty industrial caster for heavy loads that move infrequently in dry environments like manufacturing or storage facilities.
How do these casters and wheels prevent flat spotting in warehouses?
The TM Phenolic Wheel’s hard Shore D 90 composition resists deformation, preventing flat spots even under prolonged heavy loads. Paired with the swivel plate caster’s robust bracket, it ensures reliable performance for stationary equipment in warehouses or factories.
Can these light duty industrial casters be used in wet environments?
No, the phenolic wheel can absorb water, oil, or chemicals with excessive exposure, and the zinc-plated frame isn’t suited for wet conditions. Use alternative casters in wet environments; this plate caster is best for dry settings like warehouses or manufacturing plants.
Can these casters and wheels handle chemicals in industrial settings?
The phenolic wheel has limited chemical resistance and may absorb chemicals over time, making it unsuitable for chemical-heavy settings. Choose other industrial casters for such applications; this light duty industrial caster excels in dry, chemical-free environments like factories.
How do these swivel plate casters handle shock loads and obstructions?
The TM Phenolic Wheel withstands shock loads and impacts from small obstructions, supported by the swivel plate caster’s sturdy bracket and swivel design. This makes the caster reliable for heavy carts on smooth floors in warehouses or manufacturing facilities.
How easy is it to push the Plate Caster Model 3 with TM Phenolic Wheel?
This light duty industrial caster rolls smoothly on smooth floors at 350 lbs capacity due to the hard phenolic wheel and plain bore, with the swivel plate caster’s swivel action aiding maneuverability in dry settings like factories or storage areas.
Are these industrial casters suitable for rough floors?
No, the TM Phenolic Wheel in this plate caster is designed for smooth, dry floors without obstructions. It’s ideal for industrial settings like warehouses or manufacturing plants, not rough or abusive environments.
Do these casters and wheels require maintenance?
The plain bore in the TM Phenolic Wheel may require occasional lubrication to maintain smooth rolling, unlike bearing-equipped casters. Regularly inspect and clean the swivel plate caster to ensure performance in dry settings like warehouses or factories.
What are the mounting specs for this plate caster?
The Plate Caster Model 3 has a 2 3/8” x 3 5/8” top plate with a slotted bolt hole pattern of 1 3/4” x 2 7/8” to 3”, using 5/16” bolts, fitting standard carts or shelving for industrial casters in dry industrial settings.
Is the Plate Caster Model 3 with TM Phenolic Wheel NSF-rated for food service?
No, this light duty industrial caster is not NSF-rated, as phenolic is not suited for sanitary or wet environments. It’s designed for dry industrial applications like warehouses or manufacturing, not food service or labs.
How do I replace the TM Phenolic Wheel on this swivel plate caster?
Match the wheel’s diameter (3”, 4”, or 5”), 1.25” tread width, and 3/8” axle. Choose a phenolic wheel with a plain bore for the same non-marking, heavy-load performance of this plate caster in dry settings.
How does this industrial caster compare to nylon casters for heavy loads?
The Plate Caster Model 3 with TM Phenolic Wheel matches nylon casters’ 350 lbs capacity and no flat spotting but is lower-cost and avoids metal wheel drawbacks. Nylon offers better chemical resistance for wet settings, while this light duty industrial caster excels in dry warehouses or factories.
Can this plate caster handle heavy loads in manufacturing settings?
Yes, this swivel plate caster supports 350 lbs per caster in all sizes, resists shock and impacts, and prevents flat spotting, making it reliable for heavy, infrequently moved equipment in manufacturing or warehouse settings on smooth floors.
What are the advantages of the swivel design in this swivel plate caster?
The swivel plate caster’s bracket features two ball bearings on hardened raceways and a metal dust cap, ensuring smooth 360-degree movement with the TM Phenolic Wheel’s hard tread, protecting raceways from dirt in dry industrial settings like warehouses or factories.
What is the temperature range for this light duty industrial caster?
This plate caster operates from -40°F to 250°F, making it versatile for dry industrial environments like factories or warehouses, but avoid wet or chemical-heavy settings due to the phenolic wheel’s absorption risks.
