Technical Specifications

Description
Rigid Caster Model 3 is the matching rigid plate caster for the Model 3 Swivel. The top plate is 2-3/8″ x 3-5/8″ with a 1-3/4″ x 3″, slotted to 1-3/4″ x 2-7/8″ and uses a mounting bolt size of 5/16″. This rigid caster has a 3/8″ diameter bolt axle with a locking nut and uses 1-1/4″ and 1-1/2″ wide wheels. Welded leg construction provides strength. Multiple wheels and brake options are offered. When pushing or pulling equipment by hand with 4 swivel casters it can be difficult to control the direction of push or pull. Rigid casters are used to assist in controlling direction during straight line travel. Equipment with rigid casters installed can not move sideways. Ideal for sewing room equipment, upholstery shop carts, and fabric cutting tables. This plate caster is NSF listed. A Stainless Steel Model 3 version is also available for wet or corrosive environments.
High Temperature Wheels with a prefix “NP” in the part number are made of nylon mixed with glass fiber. The high temperature caster wheel “NP” is designed for moist heat applications only. This caster wheel is hard and brittle, meaning you should only use it on a hard smooth floor surface. This wheel performs best in smokehouses, moist heat bakery and autoclave applications, and around water and steam such as pressurized steam-autoclaves. Caster City has designed this caster wheel to have the following temperature range: up to 425°F for 30 minutes at continuous operation. The “NP” high temperature glass-filled nylon wheel is not recommended for dry heat applications – once the moisture content of the wheel gets to zero, the wheel will shatter. Rough floors or obstructions which impact these wheels will reduce the service life of the wheels. The “NP” high temperature caster wheel can come with a roller bearing, plain bore, or oil-impregnated sintered bronze bearing for high temperature service. Ideal for steam autoclave operations, smokehouse facilities, and moist heat industrial bakeries.
FAQ
Plate Caster Model 3 with 1.25-Inch Wide NP High Temp Glass-Filled Nylon Wheel – MOIST HIGH HEAT WHEEL
What material are “NP” high temperature wheels made from in the Plate Caster Model 3 for industrial casters?
The NP High Temp Glass-Filled Nylon Wheel in the Model 3 industrial caster is made from glass-filled nylon with additives to resist heat and moisture, creating a hard, non-marking high temperature wheel for smooth rolling in moist high heat settings.
What applications are best for the institutional caster with “NP” high heat casters in moist heat environments?
The institutional caster with NP high heat casters and wheels is perfect for moist high heat applications, like steam autoclaves, food processing, and washdown environments, where industrial casters move loads on smooth floors in hot, wet zones.
What’s the temperature limit for the NP High Temp Glass-Filled Nylon Wheel in the light duty caster for high temperature use?
The NP High Temp Glass-Filled Nylon Wheel in the light duty caster handles continuous operation up to 475°F and can hit 525°F for 30 minutes max—cool it to room temperature after high heat use to keep its service life strong.
What sizes do the NP high temperature wheels come in for the Plate Caster Model 3 industrial casters?
The NP high temperature wheels in the Model 3 industrial casters come in 3”, 4”, and 5” diameters (1.25” wide), offering options for heavy duty casters in moist high heat applications on smooth floors.
Can the NP High Temp Glass-Filled Nylon Wheel in the institutional caster roll on rough floors as a high temp wheel?
No, the NP High Temp Glass-Filled Nylon Wheel in the institutional caster is built for smooth floor surfaces only—rough floors or obstructions will damage these industrial casters and shorten their life.
Are the light duty casters with NP wheels good for dry heat-only environments?
Nope, the light duty casters with NP wheels are made for moist high heat like steam autoclaves—for dry high heat applications, pick our “TP” High Temp Phenolic high temperature wheels instead.
How do I protect the NP High Temp Glass-Filled Nylon Wheel in the Plate Caster Model 3 in moist high heat settings?
Keep the NP High Temp Glass-Filled Nylon Wheel in the Model 3 high temperature caster shielded from direct heat sources, like flames or radiant heat, to prevent damage and maintain performance in moist high heat settings.
Do the NP high temperature wheels in the industrial caster leave marks on floors in moist high heat environments?
No, the glass-filled nylon build of the NP high temperature wheels in the industrial caster is non-marking, ideal for protecting smooth floors in steam autoclaves or food processing environments with moist high heat.
Why are the heavy duty casters with NP High Temp Glass-Filled Nylon Wheels cost-effective for moist high heat use?
The heavy duty casters with NP High Temp Glass-Filled Nylon Wheels deliver durable, high temperature performance in moist heat at a lower cost than other high temperature casters, making them a smart choice for wet high heat applications without a big price tag.
Can the NP High Temp Glass-Filled Nylon Wheel in the institutional caster go above 525°F in moist high heat settings?
No, running the NP High Temp Glass-Filled Nylon Wheel in the institutional caster above 475°F for more than 30 minutes or past 525°F will cut its service life—always let it cool down after high heat exposure.
