Description

The Rigid Model 9 Caster is the matching rigid caster for the Model 9 Swivel. When hand moving equipment on 4 swivel casters it can be tough to control directional travel. Rigid casters assist in controlling the direction when equipment is being moved in a direct line. Equipment with rigid casters installed can not travel sideways. Rigid casters are typically placed at the opposite end from the push handle. The legs are 1/4″ thick and the 1/2″ diameter axle is sized for wheels with a 2 7/16″ hub width. This caster is constructed from stamped steel. Rigid casters carry more weight than swivels because they do not have an offset, but on our website both rigid and swivel casters are displayed with the same capacity. Ideal for commercial laundry operations, dry cleaning facilities, and linen services. Additional plate sizes and bearing types can be supplied on request. A 304 Stainless Steel version is also manufactured for washdown and corrosive environments.
The polyurethane caster wheel outperforms rubber in resistance to grease, oil, cutting, chunking, and abrasive wear. Available in green (PY) or red (PYR) polyurethane tread bonded to a durable iron core, these wheels are designed for versatility and can be used on nearly any factory floor. With a tire hardness of 90—95 Durometer (Shore A), they provide excellent durability. These polyurethane caster wheels maintain a temperature range of -20°F to 180°F. The principle benefit of a polyurethane wheel over the same size rubber wheel is increased capacity. Given a manual operation under ideal conditions, polyurethane caster wheels have a safe operating capacity of up to three times the capacity of the same size rubber wheel. Given the same size load on a smooth floor, a polyurethane caster wheel rolls easier than the same size conventional rubber caster wheel. However, when used at full capacity, polyurethane is not easy rolling. The bonding agent which holds the polyurethane tire to its iron center can be affected by exposure to some chemicals, impact, overloading, and the buildup of heat. The polyurethane caster wheel is compatible with precision sealed ball bearings, roller bearings. Ideal for aircraft maintenance stands, turbine handling, and nuclear facility equipment.

*This Plate Caster Model 9 contains the Green Polyurethane on Iron with Roller Bearings in the Wheel.
