Description
Model 30 Rigid Caster is a step up from the rigid casters shown on Model G15. These Rigid casters have wider wheels, large wheel bearings, a higher load capacity rating, and a bigger mounting plate than the rigid caster that is shown on G15. It features superior performance on both manually moved and mechanically powered equipment. The Model 30 frames are zinc plated for rust resistance. There are grease fittings for the wheel bearings. rigids are usually attached to equipment at the opposite end of the push handle and where swivel casters are attached. This enables the person pushing the equipment to be able to control the direction of travel. It should also be stressed that rigids have 2 legs perpendicular to the mount plate, therefore they can not move sideways. Equipment with 2 rigid casters and 2 swivel casters must be handled into position. For more information and/or help placing an order, please give us a call at 800-501-3808.
Phenolic caster wheels make an excellent, low cost choice for supporting high standing loads that move infrequently. Phenolic can not develop a flat spot if left parked for a long period under load, and the wheel is capable of withstanding shock loads and the impacts of small obstructions. Phenolic can absorb water and other chemicals if excessive exposure occurs. Phenolic caster wheels come standard with a roller bearing and have precision sealed ball bearings as an option. This wheel comes in diameters ranging from 3” to 18” and the width of the wheels ranges from 1-¼” to 4”. A phenolic wheel has a temperature range is -40° to +250° F and a Durometer of Shore D 90. FAQ
Plate Caster Model 30 with TH and TM Phenolic Wheels FAQ
What is the Plate Caster Model 30 with TH and TM Phenolic Wheels used for?
It’s a heavy duty plate caster built for tough jobs like moving heavy carts in steel mills power plants or mining operations. With a 3” swivel bearing and TH or TM Phenolic Wheels this kingpinless caster handles both manually moved and mechanically powered equipment in demanding industrial settings.
How much weight can the Plate Caster Model 30 with TH and TM Phenolic Wheels hold?
The Model 30 caster supports up to 7000 lbs per caster but the wheel’s capacity depends on its type and size. For the TH heavy-duty straight-sided wheel it’s 3500 lbs for 12” x 3” 3000 lbs for 10” x 3” 2500 lbs for 8” x 3” and 2000 lbs for 6” x 3”. The TM regular wheel has slightly lower capacities—contact Caster City at 800-501-3808 for specifics. The wheel’s limit sets the caster’s capacity so a 12” x 3” TH wheel maxes out at 3500 lbs per caster.
What wheel sizes are available for the Plate Caster Model 30 with TH and TM Phenolic Wheels?
Both the TH and TM Phenolic Wheels come in diameters of 6” 8” 10” and 12” with a tread width of 3”. Pick the size based on your load and floor type—bigger diameters like 12” make it easier to roll over uneven surfaces.
What materials are used in the Plate Caster Model 30 with TH and TM Phenolic Wheels?
The caster frame is made from ASTM1045 zinc-plated steel to resist rust with a 3” swivel bearing double-welded legs and a ¾” axle diameter. Both the TH and TM Phenolic Wheels are made from resin-impregnated canvas offering high impact resistance and durability for heavy loads.
What makes the TH and TM Phenolic Wheels on the Plate Caster Model 30 special?
The TH heavy-duty straight-sided Phenolic Wheel is built for high load capacities and durability while the TM regular Phenolic Wheel offers a slightly lighter option with similar benefits. Both resist chemicals moisture and high temperatures up to 250°F and are great at standing loads—they can’t deform over time and are excellent for warehousing with longevity on smooth surfaces lasting many years though they can be harder on floors compared to polyurethane wheels.
What bearings are used in the TH and TM Phenolic Wheels for the Plate Caster Model 30?
Both the TH and TM Phenolic Wheels can come with precision sealed ball bearings roller bearings or tapered roller bearings all with spanner bushings for smooth rolling under heavy loads. For special needs like high temperatures call Caster City at 800-501-3808 to pick the right bearing.
What add-on options are available for the Plate Caster Model 30 with TH and TM Phenolic Wheels?
You can add options like a Swivel Lock either weld-on or bolt-on including the SL4 – Weld on Swivel Lock a Weld On Face Contact Brake including the FCB – Weld on Face Contact Brake or a TB Pedal on Side top lock brake. Swivel locks lock the swivel and prevent it from rotating turning the caster into a rigid one for easy straight-line travel and ramp usage while other options help keep your equipment steady when needed.
Can the Plate Caster Model 30 with TH and TM Phenolic Wheels handle wet or corrosive environments?
The zinc-plated steel frame resists rust in most settings but for wet or corrosive environments like chemical plants or oil rigs a stainless steel version is available especially if your total load is over 4000 lbs. Both phenolic wheels resist moisture and chemicals well in theory they can absorb them but it takes a tremendous amount of exposure for that to happen making them great for harsh conditions with a temperature range of -50°F to 250°F.
Why are kingpinless casters like the Plate Caster Model 30 with TH and TM Phenolic Wheels good for material handling?
Kingpinless casters like this one are great for material handling because their design removes the kingpin cutting down on stress points and letting the caster swivel smoothly even under heavy loads. This makes it easier to change directions frequently and move heavy equipment like carts or machinery in warehouses or manufacturing plants without wear or failure.
Which industries use the Plate Caster Model 30 with TH and TM Phenolic Wheels?
It’s used in steel mills power plants chemical plants oil rigs mining operations heavy equipment manufacturing logistics hubs automotive aerospace boat building observatories and material handling. It’s perfect for moving heavy loads like machinery carts or equipment in tough industrial settings.
How do I maintain the Plate Caster Model 30 with TH and TM Phenolic Wheels?
Grease the lubrication fittings on the raceway wheel bearings and axle regularly. Consistent maintenance ensures smooth quiet performance in high-demand jobs like moving heavy carts or equipment.
Can the Plate Caster Model 30 with TH and TM Phenolic Wheels be used with powered equipment?
Yes it’s built for both manual and mechanically powered equipment thanks to its precision machined 3” swivel bearing. For powered setups call Caster City at 800-501-3808 to confirm it’ll work safely for your needs.
What is the top plate size of the Plate Caster Model 30 with TH and TM Phenolic Wheels?
The top plate is 4-1/2″ x 6-1/4″ with bolt hole spacing of 3-3/8” x 5-1/4” to 2-7/16” x 4-15/16” and uses 3/8″ mounting bolts making it a solid fit for heavy equipment like carts or machinery.
