Description

Model 30 Swivel Casters are a step up from model G15 swivel casters in that it features bigger swivel and wheel bearings and wider wheels. The precision machined swivel provides unmatched performance on both hand operated and mechanically powered machinery. The metal frames are zinc plated for rust protection, and there are greasing fittings for all adjustable parts. Popular options customers like to include is a face contact wheel brake to latch the wheels and a hand operated swivel latch that converts the swivel caster into a rigid caster for direct line travel. Capacity up to 7,000 pounds per caster. Model 30 features a large swivel and wheel bearing which allows for heavy loads and more arduous service. Benefits include easier swiveling, reduced swivel vibration, and longer trouble free performance. Ideal for automotive assembly lines, heavy machinery moving, and aircraft maintenance stands. Caster City manufactures this caster and it is also available in 304 Stainless Steel as the SS-30 for wet or corrosive applications. For more details and assistance placing an order, give us a call at 800-501-3808.
The DSC Ductile Steel industrial caster wheel is the crowned tread version of the DS wheel. The slight crown on the tread assists in changing directions, greatly reducing the force needed to change directions from a stopped position. When your application requires Ductile steel wheels, the user will not consider floor wear as too great a penalty considering the work needing to be done. Ductile steel wheels have higher ductility and tensile strength compared to Gray Iron wheels. These solid wheels are incredibly durable in normal service and can absorb shock or impact without failure. We here at Caster City provide a lubrication fitting on all Ductile steel wheels. Caster City offers DSC Ductile steel industrial caster wheels with either a roller bearing or sealed ball bearings. Their load ratings are limited by bearing capacity only. Ductile steel industrial caster wheels can be used up to 400°F depending upon the application. For continuous temperatures above 400°F, where steel roller bearings and spanner bushings may anneal, consult our engineering team to ensure optimal performance in high-temperature applications. Ductile steel industrial caster wheels should only be used on steel plating, metal channels, or as v-grooved wheels on an angle iron track to protect your expensive factory floors from damage. Ideal for mining operations, railroad maintenance, and power generation facilities.

FAQ

Plate Caster Model 30 with DSC – Ductile Steel Wheel with Slight Crown FAQ

What is the Plate Caster Model 30 with DSC – Ductile Steel Wheel with Slight Crown used for?

It’s a heavy duty plate caster built for the toughest jobs like moving heavy carts in steel mills power plants or mining operations. With a 3” swivel bearing and DSC – Ductile Steel Wheel with Slight Crown this kingpinless caster handles both manually moved and mechanically powered equipment in the most demanding industrial settings.

How much weight can the Plate Caster Model 30 with DSC – Ductile Steel Wheel with Slight Crown hold?

The Model 30 caster bracket supports up to 7000 lbs per caster but the DSC – Ductile Steel Wheel with Slight Crown capacity depends on its bearing type: all sizes (6” x 3” 8” x 3” 10” x 3” 12” x 3”) hold 6000 lbs per wheel with roller bearings and over 7000 lbs with tapered roller bearings. Since the bracket maxes out at 7000 lbs that’s the overall limit per caster.

What wheel sizes are available for the Plate Caster Model 30 with DSC – Ductile Steel Wheel with Slight Crown?

The DSC – Ductile Steel Wheel with Slight Crown comes in diameters of 6” 8” 10” and 12” with a tread width of 3” and a slight crown tread design. Pick the size based on your load and floor type—bigger diameters like 12” make it easier to roll over uneven surfaces.

What materials are used in the Plate Caster Model 30 with DSC – Ductile Steel Wheel with Slight Crown?

The caster frame is made from ASTM1045 zinc-plated steel to resist rust with a 3” swivel bearing double-welded legs and a ¾” axle diameter. The DSC – Ductile Steel Wheel with Slight Crown is made from ductile steel a combination of special alloys with a 45000 PSI tensile strength often called malleable iron.

What makes the DSC – Ductile Steel Wheel with Slight Crown on the Plate Caster Model 30 special?

The DSC – Ductile Steel Wheel with Slight Crown is a heavy-duty beast with a 45000 PSI tensile strength shrugging off wear and tear. Its slight crown tread allows it to swivel in place much easier than a flat-tread steel wheel due to the point-contact nature of the tread surface against the floor. It offers higher weight capacities than cast iron and is more economical than drop-forged steel with excellent impact resistance and durability handling temperatures from -45°F to 800°F but offers little floor protection compared to softer wheels.

What bearings are used in the DSC – Ductile Steel Wheel with Slight Crown for the Plate Caster Model 30?

The DSC – Ductile Steel Wheel with Slight Crown can come with roller bearings or tapered roller bearings all with spanner bushings for smooth rolling under heavy loads. For special needs like high temperatures call Caster City at 800-501-3808 to pick the right bearing.

What add-on options are available for the Plate Caster Model 30 with DSC – Ductile Steel Wheel with Slight Crown?

You can add options like a Swivel Lock either weld-on or bolt-on including the SL4 – Weld on Swivel Lock a Weld On Face Contact Brake including the FCB – Weld on Face Contact Brake or a TB Pedal on Side top lock brake. Swivel locks lock the swivel and prevent it from rotating turning the caster into a rigid one for easy straight-line travel and ramp usage while other options help keep your equipment steady when needed.

Can the Plate Caster Model 30 with DSC – Ductile Steel Wheel with Slight Crown handle wet or corrosive environments?

The zinc-plated steel frame resists rust in most settings but for wet or corrosive environments like chemical plants or oil rigs a stainless steel version is available especially if your total load is over 4000 lbs. The ductile steel wheel itself is durable in harsh conditions with a temperature range of -45°F to 800°F making it great for tough environments.

Are the DSC – Ductile Steel Wheels with Slight Crown in the Plate Caster Model 30 safe for factory floors?

Note: These wheels are designed for high load capacities but due to the point-contact nature of the slight crown tread surface against the floor they can be more damaging to factory floors than flat-tread wheels. Stick to steel plates channels or use V-groove wheels on angle iron tracks. Got floor worries? Email Caster City at sales@castercity.com for tips.

What are the top applications for the DSC – Ductile Steel Wheel with Slight Crown in the Plate Caster Model 30?

These wheels shine in mining hauling ore carts powder coating big metal structures welding tables heavy parts heavy manufacturing oversized gear steel mills molten metal loads construction rough terrain and industrial ovens high-heat racks. They’re built for big loads with easier swiveling thanks to the slight crown tread.

Can the Plate Caster Model 30 with DSC – Ductile Steel Wheel with Slight Crown handle abusive conditions?

Absolutely—this caster is a total powerhouse built to dominate the harshest environments. The DSC – Ductile Steel Wheel with Slight Crown with its 45000 PSI tensile strength laughs off wear and tear thriving in abusive conditions like molten metal loads in steel mills or rough terrain in construction.
