Technical Specifications

Description
8″ High Capacity Rubber Wheel. Size shown in photo is 6″ x 2″. This swivel caster has a soft gray rubber wheel that is non-marking in nature and is bonded to a plastic center. This caster wheel is 2” wide and is designed to use a 1/2” axle. The durometer of this soft gray rubber caster wheel is 90-95A, making it ideal for vibration and noise reduction. This caster wheel has a sealed precision ball bearing protected with plastic spanner bushings that reduce the inner diameter of the axle, act as thread guards, and guard the bearing from indriect and direct moisture exposure. Injection molded wheels such as this soft rubber wheel are not the best choice for standing loads that are moved infrequently.
The RH High Capacity Soft Gray Rubber Wheel is a non-marking industrial wheel for heavy duty casters, with a gray, injection-molded thermoplastic rubber tire mechanically bonded to a polyolefin (industrial plastic) center, providing a softer, quiet ride than polyurethane and resisting many chemicals and solvents, making it popular in pharmaceutical laboratories, hospitals, food service, and institutional applications on dry factory floors. This high capacity soft gray rubber caster wheel, featuring annular ball bearings to maximize its rated capacity (up to 700 lbs for the 8”x2”), absorbs shock, rolls over small objects, protects costly floor surfaces, and minimizes vibration, prolonging equipment life and protecting cargo, but it’s not suited for shock, overloading, abuse, obstructions, poor floors, or prolonged standing loads, as the tire may take a permanent set or develop flat spots.
The RH High Capacity Soft Gray Rubber Wheel has higher rolling resistance, so it does not roll easily under load—reduce capacity ratings by 50% and select the largest practical wheel diameter (1.25” wide in 3”, 3.5”, 4”, and 5” diameters, and 2” wide in 4”, 5”, 6”, and 8” diameters) for manual movement, as load capacity ratings do not account for the effort required to manually move a load (drawbar pull measured in pounds). The bonding agent holding the rubber tire to its polyolefin center can be affected by exposure to some chemicals, impact, overloading, and the buildup of heat, so this heavy duty wheel works best in dry factory floors for industrial applications, offering a quiet, shock-absorbing ride while protecting floors and equipment in sensitive settings. FAQ
RH High Capacity Soft Gray Rubber Wheel
What sizes are available for the RH High Capacity Soft Gray Rubber Wheel?
The RH High Capacity Soft Gray Rubber Wheel is available in 1.25″ wide (3”, 3.5”, 4”, and 5” diameters) and 2″ wide (4”, 5”, 6”, and 8” diameters), offering versatile options for various applications.
What materials are used in the RH High Capacity Soft Gray Rubber Wheel?
The RH High Capacity Soft Gray Rubber Wheel is made with a non-marking, injection-molded thermoplastic rubber tire mechanically bonded to a polyolefin (industrial plastic) center, ensuring superior durability and performance.
What are the main benefits of the RH High Capacity Soft Gray Rubber Wheel?
The RH wheel delivers a quiet, shock-absorbing ride, protects floors and equipment, resists chemicals and solvents, and minimizes vibration, outperforming the RF wheel with higher quality and strength for sensitive environments.
How does the RH High Capacity Soft Gray Rubber Wheel perform in terms of rolling resistance?
The RH wheel has higher rolling resistance due to its softness, requiring more effort to move under load—reduce capacity by 50% for manual movement and select the largest practical diameter for easier rolling.
What are the limitations of the RH High Capacity Soft Gray Rubber Wheel?
It’s not suited for shock, overloading, abuse, obstructions, poor floors, or prolonged standing loads, as it may develop flat spots, and should avoid exposure to certain chemicals and heat buildup.
What bearing type comes with the RH High Capacity Soft Gray Rubber Wheel?
The RH High Capacity Soft Gray Rubber Wheel comes with precision sealed ball bearings, ensuring smooth, maintenance-free operation for enhanced performance.
Can the RH High Capacity Soft Gray Rubber Wheel be used in wet or corrosive environments?
The RH wheel can withstand exposure to water and some chemicals, but the caster frame must be considered—pair it with a stainless steel caster for wet or corrosive settings to ensure durability.
What industries commonly use the RH High Capacity Soft Gray Rubber Wheel?
The RH wheel is popular in pharmaceutical laboratories, hospitals, food service, and institutional applications, where its higher quality and strength provide quiet operation and floor protection.
How does the RH High Capacity Soft Gray Rubber Wheel compare to polyurethane wheels?
The RH wheel offers a softer ride than polyurethane, absorbing shock and reducing vibration to enhance equipment life and protect floors, but it has higher rolling resistance, making it ideal for sensitive settings.
What maintenance does the RH High Capacity Soft Gray Rubber Wheel require?
The RH wheel’s annular ball bearings require no maintenance, ensuring long-term, smooth performance with minimal upkeep for demanding applications.
What bearing options are available for the 2″ wide RH High Capacity Soft Gray Rubber Wheels in 4″, 5″, 6″, and 8″ diameters?
The 2″ wide RH High Capacity Soft Gray Rubber Wheels in 4″, 5″, 6″, and 8″ diameters can use delrin bearings, precision sealed ball bearings, roller bearings, stainless steel precision sealed ball bearings, and stainless steel roller bearings.
What is the maximum capacity of the 8″x2″ RH High Capacity Soft Gray Rubber Wheel for heavy duty casters?
The 8″x2″ RH High Capacity Soft Gray Rubber Wheel supports a maximum capacity of 700 lbs, making it a reliable industrial wheel for heavy duty casters in applications like hospital carts or food service equipment.
Why is the RH High Capacity Soft Gray Rubber Wheel ideal for heavy duty industrial usage in hospitals?
The RH High Capacity Soft Gray Rubber Wheel excels in heavy duty industrial usage in hospitals, offering a higher quality, stronger build than the RF wheel, with a quiet, shock-absorbing ride that protects floors and equipment while lasting over 20 years in dry settings.
