Technical Specifications

Description
This swivel caster has an 8″ x 2″ Gray Rubber Wheel that is non-marking in nature and is bonded to a plastic center. This caster wheel is 2” wide and is designed to use a 1/2” axle. The durometer of this soft gray rubber caster wheel is 90-95A, making it ideal for vibration and noise reduction. This caster wheel has a sealed precision ball bearing protected with plastic spanner bushings that reduce the inner diameter of the axle, act as thread guards, and guard the bearing from indriect and direct moisture exposure. If your application is moved infrequently and has a high capacity, injection molded caster wheels such as this are not the best choice.

What sizes are available for the RD Crown Tread Soft Gray Rubber Wheel?
The RD Crown Tread Soft Gray Rubber Wheel is available in widths of 1.25″ and 2″, with diameters ranging from 3″ to 8″, providing options for various light duty applications.
What materials are used in the RD Crown Tread Soft Gray Rubber Wheel?
The RD Crown Tread Soft Gray Rubber Wheel is made with a non-marking, injection-molded thermoplastic rubber tire mechanically bonded to a polyolefin (industrial plastic) center, ensuring durability and quiet performance.
What are the main benefits of the RD Crown Tread Soft Gray Rubber Wheel?
The RD wheel offers a quiet, shock-absorbing ride with a crown tread that reduces push/pull effort, protects floors, resists chemicals, and minimizes vibration, ideal for sensitive or quiet environments.
How does the RD Crown Tread Soft Gray Rubber Wheel perform in terms of rolling resistance?
The RD wheel has higher rolling resistance due to its softness, needing more effort to move under load—reduce capacity by 50% for manual movement and use the largest practical diameter for easier rolling.
What are the limitations of the RD Crown Tread Soft Gray Rubber Wheel?
It’s not suited for shock, overloading, abuse, obstructions, poor floors, or prolonged standing loads, as it may develop flat spots, and should avoid exposure to certain chemicals and heat buildup.
What bearing type comes with the RD Crown Tread Soft Gray Rubber Wheel?
The RD Crown Tread Soft Gray Rubber Wheel comes with precision sealed ball bearings, ensuring smooth, maintenance-free operation for light duty applications.
Can the RD Crown Tread Soft Gray Rubber Wheel be used in wet or corrosive environments?
The RD wheel can handle exposure to water and some chemicals, but the caster frame matters—pair it with a stainless steel caster for wet or corrosive settings to ensure longevity.
What industries commonly use the RD Crown Tread Soft Gray Rubber Wheel?
The RD wheel is widely used in resorts for luggage and bellhop carts, as well as light duty ergonomic carts in hospitals, food service, and institutional settings where quiet operation and floor protection are key.
How does the RD Crown Tread Soft Gray Rubber Wheel compare to polyurethane wheels?
The RD wheel provides a softer ride than polyurethane, absorbing shock and reducing vibration to protect floors and equipment, but it has higher rolling resistance, making it better for quiet, light duty needs.
What maintenance does the RD Crown Tread Soft Gray Rubber Wheel require?
The RD wheel’s precision sealed ball bearings require no maintenance, ensuring long-term, smooth performance with minimal upkeep for sensitive or quiet applications.
What bearing options are available for the 2″ wide RD Crown Tread Soft Gray Rubber Wheels in 4″, 5″, 6″, and 8″ diameters?
The 2″ wide RD Crown Tread Soft Gray Rubber Wheels in 4″, 5″, 6″, and 8″ diameters can use delrin bearings, precision sealed ball bearings, roller bearings, stainless steel precision sealed ball bearings, and stainless steel roller bearings.
Why is the RD Crown Tread Soft Gray Rubber Wheel ideal for heavy duty industrial usage in resorts?
The RD Crown Tread Soft Gray Rubber Wheel is perfect for heavy duty industrial usage in resorts, powering luggage and bellhop carts with its quiet, shock-absorbing crown tread design, protecting floors and reducing noise for sensitive guest areas while lasting over 20 years in dry settings.
