Description
Rigid Caster Model 9 is the matching rigid for the Model 9 Swivel Caster. When manually operating equipment supported by 4 swivel casters the direction of push or pull can be hard to manage. Rigid casters are primarily used to control the direction when equipment is being moved in direct line travel. Equipment with rigid casters installed can not move sideways. Rigid casters are usually positioned at the opposite end from the push handle. Leg thickness measures 1/4″ and the axle diameter is 1/2″, sized for wheels with a 2 7/16″ hub width. The caster is stamped steel construction. Rigids can handle greater loads than swivel casters because they have no offset, nevertheless on our website both rigid and swivel casters are shown with the same capacity. Ideal for paper converting, bottling operations, and dairy processing plants. Other mounting plate sizes and bearing types are available on request. This caster can also be ordered in a 304 Stainless Steel construction for wet or corrosive environments.
The polyurethane caster wheel outperforms rubber in resistance to grease, oil, cutting, chunking, and abrasive wear. The polyurethane tread is chemically bonded to an iron core and is available in green (PY) or red (PYR). These caster wheels can be used on almost any factory floor. With a tire hardness of 90—95 Durometer (Shore A), they provide excellent durability while maintaining a temperature range of -20°F to 180°F. The primary advantage of polyurethane wheels over rubber is their significantly higher load capacity – up to three times that of a comparable rubber wheel under ideal conditions on smooth floors. While polyurethane wheels roll more easily than rubber at the same load, they may become less easy-rolling when pushed to their maximum capacity. The bonding agent which holds the polyurethane tire to its iron center can be affected by exposure to some chemicals, impact, overloading, and the buildup of heat. The polyurethane caster wheel is compatible with precision sealed ball bearings, roller bearings. Ideal for machine shops, tool and die shops, metal fabrication, and steel mill operations.
*This Plate Caster Model 9 contains 3 1/4″ Green Polyurethane on Iron Wheel.
