Description
Plate Caster Model K3 is made using a stamped steel construction and is zinc plated. The axle diameter of this rigid caster is ⅜”. This caster’s larger plate size makes it easier to fabricate with, which is it’s primary selling point. This plate caster performs best if you limit the load to no more than 1200 lbs on a set of 4 Model K3 casters.
3″ Polyolefin ( Black Donut ) Wheel Ball Bearing in the Wheel. Shown with 3″ Wheel.
Polyolefin Caster Wheels are injection molded from a blend of thermoplastic polymers forming a one piece solid sanitary design. These Polyolefin wheels are especially suited for wet and corrosive applications. They are very resistant to most commonly encountered liquids. Polyolefin wheels have a lower capacity and a more limited temperature range than Nylon wheels. In a cold dry environment, such as a refrigerated store room, Polyolefin wheels may become brittle. They should not be used in a freezer or a heat application above 180°F intermittent usage, such as a rack washer.
This donut shaped wheel comes with sealed ball bearings in the wheel. It’s tread shape enables it to change directions much more easily.

FAQ
Plate Caster Model K3 with PB Polyolefin Wheel (Black, Crown Tread, Precision Sealed Ball Bearings)
What is the Plate Caster Model K3 with PB Polyolefin Wheel?
The Plate Caster Model K3 with PB Polyolefin Wheel is a swivel plate caster or rigid plate caster featuring a black, non-marking polyolefin wheel with a crown tread (donut shape) and a zinc-plated or stainless steel bracket. With a 1.25” tread width, 3” to 5” diameters, precision sealed ball bearings, and 350 lbs capacity per caster (1400 lbs for four), this industrial caster is NSF-rated, ideal for sanitary settings like food processing, hospitals, or labs.
Why choose these industrial casters for sanitary applications?
This light duty industrial caster combines a liquid-resistant, non-marking PB Polyolefin Wheel with a corrosion-resistant plate caster bracket, supporting 350 lbs. NSF-rated for wet or dry settings, it’s perfect for casters and wheels in hospitals, food processing, or labs, ensuring hygiene and no flat spotting.
How does the PB Polyolefin Wheel’s sanitary design benefit this plate caster?
The PB Wheel’s one-piece, solid polyolefin design resists liquids like water, oils, and solvents, preventing contamination, paired with the swivel plate caster’s stainless steel option for washdown durability. This caster excels in sanitary settings like food processing or hospitals.
How do these casters and wheels protect floors in sensitive environments?
The non-marking PB Polyolefin Wheel in this plate caster protects floors like tile or hardwood, with the light duty industrial caster’s sturdy bracket ensuring controlled movement in hospitals, offices, or retail spaces, preventing floor damage.
How easy is it to roll the Plate Caster Model K3 with PB Polyolefin Wheel?
This industrial caster rolls effortlessly at 350 lbs capacity due to the PB Wheel’s hard polyolefin, ergonomic crown tread, and precision sealed ball bearings, with the swivel plate caster’s swivel action enhancing maneuverability in labs or small warehouses.
Can these casters and wheels be parked under load?
Yes, the hard polyolefin wheel in this plate caster prevents flat spotting, even under prolonged loads, ideal for stationary equipment in hospitals, labs, or workshops. No specific load limit applies, but avoid excessive static loads for longevity.
Are these light duty industrial casters suitable for rough floors?
No, the PB Polyolefin Wheel in this light duty industrial caster is designed for smooth, dry or wet floors without obstructions. It’s ideal for casters in hospitals, labs, or retail settings, not rough or abusive environments.
Can the Plate Caster Model K3 with PB Wheel be used in wet environments?
Yes, the PB Wheel’s liquid-resistant polyolefin and the stainless steel plate caster option make this industrial caster suitable for wet, washdown environments like food processing or labs, unlike the zinc-plated frame, which may rust.
Do these industrial casters require maintenance?
No, the precision sealed ball bearings in the PB Wheel and swivel plate caster’s sealed swivel bearings are maintenance-free, ensuring smooth, quiet rolling. Regularly inspect and clean to maintain hygiene in washdown settings like labs or food processing.
What are the mounting specs for this plate caster?
The Plate Caster Model K3 has a 3-1/8” x 4-1/8” top plate with a 2-3/8” x 3-3/8” bolt hole spacing (slotted to 1-3/4” x 2-15/16”), using 3/8” bolts, easing fabrication for light duty industrial casters in various settings.
Is the Plate Caster Model K3 with PB Wheel NSF-rated for food service?
Yes, this light duty industrial caster and its PB Wheel are NSF-rated, making it ideal for casters and wheels in food service, hospitals, or labs where hygiene is critical.
How do I select the PB Polyolefin Wheel for swivel plate casters?
Choose a 1.25” wide PB Polyolefin Wheel with 3”, 3.5”, 4”, or 5” diameter, 3/8” axle, crown tread, and precision sealed ball bearings for swivel plate casters like Model K3, ensuring non-marking, ergonomic performance in labs or food processing.
How does this industrial caster compare to nylon casters for institutional settings?
The Plate Caster Model K3 with PB Wheel offers similar non-marking, sanitary performance to nylon casters with a 350 lbs capacity. Nylon resists more chemicals, but this light duty industrial caster excels for standing loads in hospitals or schools.
What role does the rigid design play in this plate caster?
The rigid plate caster prevents sideways movement, aiding straight-line travel for equipment with casters and wheels, enhancing control for heavy, infrequent moves in food processing or retail, with TB, PTB, or K3A brake options for stability.
What brake options are available for this light duty industrial caster?
This plate caster offers the TB Top Lock Brake (metal pedal, side-mounted, high-temp capable, cost-effective), PTB Plastic Pedal Top Lock Brake (trailing position, easier to engage/disengage), and K3A Total Locking Brake (locks wheel and swivel, matches K3’s height and plate), enhancing safety for industrial casters in hospitals, labs, or workshops.
What are the advantages of the Plate Caster Model K3 with PB Wheel?
This light duty industrial caster combines the PB Wheel’s non-marking, liquid-resistant polyolefin with a crown tread and the swivel plate caster or rigid bracket’s larger plate for easy fabrication, delivering hygienic, ergonomic movement for casters and wheels in labs, hospitals, or offices, with TB, PTB, and K3A brakes.
How do these industrial casters benefit schools or office environments?
The Plate Caster Model K3 with PB Wheel ensures non-marking, quiet rolling and floor protection with its crowned tread, making it ideal for light duty industrial casters in schools or offices. Its sanitary design, no flat spotting, and TB/PTB/K3A brakes suit carts in libraries or classrooms.
Why are these casters and wheels suited for retail or workshops?
This swivel plate caster supports 350 lbs with the PB Wheel’s smooth, maintenance-free rolling via precision sealed ball bearings, ideal for industrial casters in retail (e.g., display racks) or workshops (e.g., tool carts). Its non-marking, durable design with TB/PTB/K3A brakes protects floors in light-duty industrial settings.
