Technical Specifications

Description
Swivel Radius for 3 inch PTB brake = 4-3/8″ ± 1/8″
Plate Caster Model 3 is made using a stamped steel construction and is bright zinc plated for corrosion resistance. The mounting plate is 2 3/8” x 3 5/8” and the hole pattern is slotted to: 1 3/4” x 2 7/8” – 3” and is designed to use a mounting bolt size of 5/16”. This plate caster uses a ⅜” diameter axle and the swivel caster is held together by a 1⁄2” diameter rivet. This institutional plate caster is constructed with two ball bearings on hardened raceways to ensure life of the caster. There is a metal dust cap protecting the swivel raceways to shield them from dirt and dust. Features wheels with 1-¼” and 1-1⁄2” tread widths. This Zinc Plated caster is NSF listed.
High Temperature Phenolic Wheels have a prefix “TP” in the part number and are made with glass fiber. They are best suited for dry heat applications such as powder coating, dry heat bakery ovens and dry heat autoclaves. Will give excellent continuous service at temperatures up to 475° Degrees F. They can be used intermittently as high as 525 degrees F. Applications include baking ovens, curing ovens, and autoclaves. Then allow it to cool to room temperature. If used above 475° F for more than 30 minutes of continuous operation it will reduce the life of the wheel. The wheel is prone to chip if it is impacted with floor obstructions. These wheels are available in 3″ to 12″ diameter in a wide variety of bore and hub length sizes.
In any high temperature application it is always best to shield High Temperature Wheels from a direct heat intake source. Consult us for a load capacity rating in your application. We will need the following information: Maximum Temperature and for how long? Maximum load on each caster? Is your application wet or dry?
Caster City manufactures this plate caster in Stainless Steel Caster Model 3. This caster comes standard with two high temperature white seals in the swivel bearing that has a temperature range of -20F to 450F. Also come with a grease fitting on the dust cover and axle, and buffed to a smooth reflective surface.
Caster City also manufactures this plate caster in Economy Stainless Steel Plate Caster Model K3. Constructed with S304 stainless steel and comes with no dust cap or grease fitting on the swivel making it economically efficient for most applications.

FAQ
Plate Caster Model 3 with 1.25-Inch Wide TP High Temp Phenolic Wheel
What material are “TP” high temperature wheels made from in the Plate Caster Model 3 for industrial casters?
The TP High Temp Phenolic Wheel in the Model 3 industrial caster is made from fiberglass, phenol resin, and additives to resist heat, creating a hard, non-marking high temperature wheel for smooth rolling in high temp dry heat settings.
What applications are best for the institutional caster with “TP” high heat casters in dry heat environments?
The institutional caster with TP high heat casters and wheels is perfect for dry high heat applications, like powder coating, dry heat bakery ovens, and dry heat autoclaves, where industrial casters move loads on smooth floors in hot zones.
What’s the temperature limit for the TP High Temp Phenolic Wheel in the light duty caster for high temperature use?
The TP High Temp Phenolic Wheel in the light duty caster handles continuous operation up to 475°F and can hit 525°F for 30 minutes max—cool it to room temperature after high heat use to keep its service life strong.
What sizes do the TP high temperature wheels come in for the Plate Caster Model 3 industrial casters?
The TP high temperature wheels in the Model 3 industrial casters come in 3”, 4”, and 5” diameters (1.25” wide), offering options for heavy duty casters in dry high heat applications on smooth floors.
Can the TP High Temp Phenolic Wheel in the institutional caster roll on rough floors as a high temp wheel?
No, the TP High Temp Phenolic Wheel in the institutional caster is built for smooth floor surfaces only—rough floors or obstructions will damage these industrial casters and shorten their life.
Are the light duty casters with TP wheels good for moist heat environments?
Nope, the light duty casters with TP wheels are made for dry high heat only and will fail in moist heat like steam autoclaves—for moist heat, pick our “NP” Glass-Filled Nylon high temperature wheels.
How do I protect the TP High Temp Phenolic Wheel in the Plate Caster Model 3 in high temp dry heat settings?
Keep the TP High Temp Phenolic Wheel in the Model 3 high temperature caster shielded from direct heat sources, like flames or radiant heat, to prevent damage and maintain performance in high temp dry heat settings.
Do the TP high temperature wheels in the industrial caster leave marks on floors in high heat environments?
No, the fiberglass, phenol resin, and additive build of the TP high temperature wheels in the industrial caster is non-marking, ideal for protecting smooth floors in dry heat autoclaves or powder coating lines.
Why are the heavy duty casters with TP High Temp Phenolic Wheels cost-effective for high temp use?
The heavy duty casters with TP High Temp Phenolic Wheels deliver durable, high temperature performance at a lower cost than other high temperature casters, making them a smart choice for dry high heat applications without a big price tag.
Can the TP High Temp Phenolic Wheel in the institutional caster go above 525°F in high temp dry heat settings?
No, running the TP High Temp Phenolic Wheel in the institutional caster above 475°F for more than 30 minutes or past 525°F will cut its service life—always let it cool down after high heat exposure.
