Description
3″ Polyolefin Wheel. Brake Locks both the Swivel and Wheel Shown in photo with 5″ wheels. This Total Lock Stainless Steel plate swivel 3A caster is our stainless steel total locking light duty industrial caster which uses the same 1-¼” wide wheels as our standard Model 3. This caster is made using a stamped steel construction. This institutional plate caster is a step up from most swivel casters of its price range since it uses a ⅜” axle bolt and it’s center pin steel rivet is ½” diameter. Plate Caster Model 3A caster brackets have two rows of ball bearings rotating on raceways for smoother swiveling. There is a solid cover over the swivel raceways to shield them from dirt and dust. This plate caster performs best if you limit the load to no more than 1200 lbs on a set of 4 Model 3A casters. The Total Locking Stainless Caster Model 3A is excellent for medical equipment.
The Polyolefin Caster Wheel in the Stainless Steel Total Locking Plate Caster Model 3A is a great pick for institutional stainless steel caster needs in labs, hospitals, and food processing plants where sanitary conditions and washdowns are critical. This wheel is injection molded from a blend of thermoplastic polymers, forming a one-piece solid sanitary design, made in 1-¼” wide with 3”, 4”, and 5” diameters, holding a max capacity of 300 lbs per wheel and per caster on smooth floors with either a flat or crowned tread face, offering plain bore or sealed ball bearings. It’s very resistant to most commonly encountered liquids, making it especially suited for wet and corrosive applications like washdown environments, and it won’t develop flat spots if left parked for a prolonged period, though it has a lower capacity and more limited temperature range than Nylon wheels. The stainless steel caster assembly, made from 304 stainless steel with a stamped steel construction, includes a double ball bearing swivel for smoother movement, a ⅜” diameter axle, a ½” diameter steel rivet holding the swivel raceways together, and a solid cover shielding the raceways from dirt and dust. A total lock brake locks both the wheel and the swivel on a swivel caster at the same time, ensuring equipment like carts and tables stays completely immobile when the brake is engaged, making it perfect for safety in labs and hospitals. Total locking casters are important because in cutting, welding, sawing, or similar tasks, people will lean against the worktable while doing their dangerous cut, and the total lock caster prevents anything in the caster from moving, totally immobilizing wheel and swivel rotation of the caster.
These polyolefin wheels don’t work well with shock, overloading, abuse, obstructions, poor floors, or rack washers, but their one-piece solid sanitary design makes them durable for tough settings like pharmaceutical labs and food processing plants. The stainless steel assembly adds durability, giving reliable performance in dry or wet washdown settings like hospital kitchens or labs, ensuring safety with the total lock brake feature when the metal pedal brake is engaged, making this plate caster a smart choice for institutional equipment needing corrosion resistance and stability in wet environments where resistance to commonly encountered liquids is key.
