Description
4″ Gray Soft Rubber Wheel. Brake Locks both the Swivel and Wheel Shown in photo with 5″ wheels. This Total Lock Stainless Steel plate swivel 3A caster is our stainless steel total locking light duty industrial caster which uses the same 1-¼” wide wheels as our standard Model 3. This caster is made using a stamped steel construction. This plate caster uses a ⅜” diameter axle and the swivel caster raceway is held together by a ½” diameter rivet. Plate Caster Model 3A caster brackets have two rows of ball bearings rotating on raceways for smoother swiveling. There is a solid cover over the swivel raceways to shield them from dirt and dust. This plate caster performs best if you limit the load to no more than 1200 lbs on a set of 4 Model 3A casters. The Total Locking Stainless Caster Model 3A is excellent for medical equipment.
The RF Soft Gray Rubber Wheel in the Stainless Steel Total Locking Stem Caster Model 3A is a great pick for institutional stainless steel caster needs in labs, hospitals, and washdown applications. It features soft non-marking TPR rubber—gray injection molded thermoplastic rubber tires—mechanically bonded to a polyolefin center, built for 3”, 4”, and 5” diameters (1.25” wide) and holding up to 300 lbs per caster at room temperature on smooth floors. This soft gray rubber caster wheel has a maintenance-free precision sealed ball bearing and thread guards that act as a spanner bushing while protecting the bearings. It provides a softer ride than polyurethane, withstands exposure to many chemicals and solvents, absorbs shock, rolls over small objects, protects floor surfaces, and minimizes vibration. The stainless steel caster assembly, made from 304 stainless steel with a stamped steel construction, includes a double ball bearing swivel for smoother movement and a 5” swivel radius with the total lock brake. A total lock brake locks both the wheel and the swivel on a swivel caster at the same time, ensuring equipment like carts and tables stays completely immobile when the brake is engaged, making it ideal for safety in labs and hospitals. Total locking casters are important because in cutting, welding, sawing, or similar tasks, people will lean against the worktable while doing their dangerous cut, and the total lock caster prevents anything in the caster from moving, totally immobilizing wheel and swivel rotation of the caster.
Built for smooth floors in dry or wet washdown environments, the RF Soft Gray Rubber Wheel excels with its cost-effective design, keeping smooth rolling and floor protection in institutional applications like hospital or lab equipment setups. It doesn’t work well with shock, overloading, abuse, obstructions, poor floors, standing loads, or rack washers—don’t exceed 50% of the rated capacity for applications parked for long periods, as the bonding agent holding the tire to its polyolefin center can be affected by such conditions, potentially causing flat spots. Soft non-marking TPR rubber offers better operating traits than any other wheel material, though it doesn’t roll easily under load—reduce capacity ratings by 50% and pick the largest practical diameter for manual movement to lessen effort. The total lock brake ensures safety by making the caster completely immobile, making this stainless steel stem caster a smart choice for institutional equipment like carts and tables in labs and hospitals needing corrosion resistance and stability.
