Description

Plate Caster Model 9 Rigid Caster is the matching plate caster for the Model 9 Swivel Caster.  When manually moving equipment supported by 4 swivel casters it can be difficult to control the direction you are pushing or pulling.  Rigid casters assist in controlling equipment being moved in straight line travel.  Equipment with rigid casters installed can not move sideways.  Rigid Casters are usually installed at the opposite end of the push handle.  Leg thickness is 1/4”.  The axle diameter is 1/2” long and is designed to use wheels with a hub width of 2 7/16”.  This caster is constructed from stamped steel.

Rigid Casters can carry more weight than swivel casters because they do not have an offset.  Nevertheless, on our website both rigid casters and matching swivel casters are shown with the same capacity.  Other mounting plate sizes and wheel bearing types are available on request.

The “PYC” polyurethane caster wheel has a heavy-duty iron center and its liquid caster tire is chemically bonded to the hub.  This “PYC” Caster wheel carries more weight than your standard polyurethane caster wheel due to having a thicker tire and thicker center.    This “PYC” caster wheel has a slight crown on the polyurethane tire which helps with changing directions when the load is standing still or moving.  Polyurethane caster wheels can have their chemical bonds weakened by overloading, chemical exposure, heat from continuous usage, or heavy impacts.  Polyurethane wheels are chosen when higher loads are needed to roll on floors due to offering more floor protection than what a hard composition caster wheel can.The temperature range of this caster wheel is -20° to 180° F and the durometer of the polyurethane tire is 95 Shore A, and is available in either 2” or 3” wide.

This caster is available in Stainless Steel Model 9.  It is constructed from 304 Stainless Steel.  This is an excellent caster for wet or corrosive applications if your total weight exceeds 1000lbs.   comes with the same large selection of wheels, some of which are also NSF and ROHS compliant.

FAQ

Industrial Caster Model 9 with PYC Polyurethane Caster Wheel

What makes the Industrial Caster Model 9 with the PYC polyurethane caster wheel a top heavy duty caster?

The Model 9 industrial caster, with its low cost and stamped steel build, pairs with the dark blue on black iron core PYC wheel, taking 1,200 lbs in 5”, 6”, and 8” sizes, offering durability and floor protection for tough jobs.

How durable is the Model 9 industrial caster with the PYC wheel under heavy abuse?

The Model 9 heavy duty industrial caster, with a welded 5/8” kingpin bolt and 1/4” thick legs, holds up with the dark blue PYC wheel, surviving impacts, overloading, and heat that would break lesser casters like the G15.

What industries rely on the Model 9 industrial caster with the dark blue PYC wheel?

The Model 9 swivel caster, with 2 rows of balls on heat-treated raceways, and the dark blue on black PYC wheel, is used in manufacturing, warehousing, automotive, aerospace, food processing, and healthcare for carts and equipment mobility.

What’s the load capacity of the Model 9 heavy duty industrial caster with the PYC wheel?

The Model 9 industrial caster, built with a 1/2” axle and zinc-plated steel, supports 1,200 lbs with the dark blue PYC wheel in 5”, 6”, and 8” sizes, handling medium to heavy-duty tasks across industries.

What’s the temperature range for the PYC wheel on the Model 9 industrial caster?

The dark blue PYC polyurethane caster wheel on the Model 9 heavy duty caster operates from -20° to 180°F, with a 95 Shore A durometer, managing heat from continuous use in harsh environments.

Why does the Model 9 swivel caster with the dark blue PYC wheel turn so easily?

The Model 9 swivel caster, with lubrication fittings and 2 rows of balls, pairs with the dark blue PYC wheel’s crowned tire, making direction changes smooth even under load, whether still or moving.

Can the Model 9 heavy duty industrial caster with the PYC wheel handle wet environments?

Yes, the stainless steel Model 9 industrial caster, with 304 stainless steel and NSF/ROHS compliance, paired with the dark blue on black PYC wheel, resists corrosion in wet settings like food processing for loads over 1,000 lbs.

What brake options does the Model 9 industrial caster with the PYC wheel offer?

The Model 9 heavy duty industrial caster has a total lock brake (TL) and swivel lock options, but the TL brake on this swivel caster won’t work with swivel locks or raceway seals due to design constraints.

How do you mount the PYC wheel on the Model 9 heavy duty industrial caster?

The dark blue PYC wheel, with a 2 7/16” hub width, mounts on the Model 9 industrial caster’s 1/2” diameter axle and 4 x 4-1/2” mounting plate, fitting standard equipment for easy setup in tough industries.

How does the slight crown on the PYC wheel help with push-pull forces on the Model 9 swivel caster?

The slight crown on the dark blue PYC wheel reduces push-pull forces on the Model 9 swivel caster by minimizing surface contact, improving ergonomics and making it easier to maneuver heavy loads.

Why does the slight crown on the PYC wheel make turning easier on the Model 9 heavy duty caster?

The slight crown on the PYC polyurethane caster wheel helps the Model 9 industrial caster change directions from a stopped position by reducing friction, allowing smoother turns with less effort.
