Description

6″ All Polyurethane Wheel. Shown in photo with 6″ x 2″ wheel. Stainless Steel Model 9 rigid caster frames are constructed with stamped steel and the 304 stainless steel is excellent for corrosion resistance and washdowns, such as with food processing. The legs of this caster and the mounting plate are made from ¼” thick 304 stainless steel. This caster is ROHS and NSF compliant. This stainless steel rigid caster uses a 1/2” diameter axle. Rigid casters are most commonly selected when price is a factor, or if you need to travel in a straight line over long distances. This Stainless Steel Model 9 caster is not intended to carry more than 1200lbs of weight per caster.

This solid all polyurethane industrial caster wheel was developed for sanitary and washdown applications, and is capable of rolling indoors or outdoors. The blue all polyurethane (“AP”) caster wheel is manufactured in 2” wide; with diameters ranging from 4”-8”. Caster City manufactures this (“AP”) blue all polyurethane wheel to come with a roller bearing, delrin bearings, or a sealed precision ball bearing and all bearing options are available in stainless steel as well.

These wheels are non marking and non conductive. The absence of a metal center eliminates bond failure as a cause for wheel replacement. These caster wheels are especially suited for use with stainless steel casters in wet and corrosive applications. They are designed for use in Pharmaceutical Laboratories, Hospitals, and Food Processing Plants – wherever a clean sanitary design is desired. These wheels are not recommended for applications involving shock, overloading, abuse, obstructions, poor floors, or for storage (standing) loads. Hardness is 60 – 65 Durometer Shore D. Temperature range is -20° to 180° F.

These wheels are designed for use in a wet environment and they eliminate the possibility of tire separation.

If a static load on this tire exceeds 60% of the rated capacity and is left unmoved for a prolonged period of time, the tire may develop a flat spot. Durometer : Shore D 60.

FAQ

Stainless Steel Rigid Model 9 with Blue All Polyurethane Wheel – FAQ & Description

FAQ – Questions & Answers

What is a rigid caster, and how does it differ from a swivel caster?
A rigid caster is fixed in direction, providing stability and straight-line movement, unlike a swivel caster, which can rotate 360 degrees for maneuverability.

What is the Stainless Steel Rigid Model 9 with Blue All Polyurethane Wheel designed for?
The Stainless Steel Rigid Model 9 with Blue All Polyurethane Wheel is designed for wet, corrosive environments needing sanitary conditions and stable, straight-line movement, such as food processing plants, pharmaceutical labs, and hospitals.

What makes the Blue All Polyurethane Wheel a good choice for this rigid caster?
The Blue All Polyurethane Wheel is a solid, one-piece molded design that resists oil, grease, water, and chemicals (up to 10% acidity) while providing smooth, non-marking performance in washdown environments.

Why is the Stainless Steel Rigid Model 9 ideal for wet or corrosive environments?
The Stainless Steel Rigid Model 9 features a 304 stainless steel frame with an electrolytic finish, making it highly resistant to corrosion and compliant with NSF and ROHS standards for sanitary use.

What industries can use the Stainless Steel Rigid Model 9 with this wheel?
This rigid caster is ideal for food processing, pharmaceutical labs, hospitals, fisheries, and other settings requiring corrosion resistance, sanitation, and stable movement.

What bearing options does the Blue All Polyurethane Wheel offer?
The Blue All Polyurethane Wheel comes with roller bearings, delrin bearings, or sealed precision ball bearings, all available in stainless steel for enhanced durability in wet conditions.

What is the hardness of the Blue All Polyurethane Wheel?
The Blue All Polyurethane Wheel has a Shore 60-65D durometer, offering durability and low rolling resistance for industrial use.

What temperature range can the Blue All Polyurethane Wheel handle?
The Blue All Polyurethane Wheel operates from -20° to 180° F, suitable for both cold storage and higher-temperature washdown environments.

How does the Blue All Polyurethane Wheel compare to bonded polyurethane wheels?
The Blue All Polyurethane Wheel is a solid, one-piece design that eliminates bond failure, unlike bonded polyurethane wheels, making it more durable in wet and corrosive conditions.

Can the Stainless Steel Rigid Model 9 be used in dry environments?
Yes, the Stainless Steel Rigid Model 9 performs well in dry environments, but its primary advantage is its corrosion resistance in wet or chemical-heavy settings.

What maintenance does the Stainless Steel Rigid Model 9 with this wheel require?
The Stainless Steel Rigid Model 9 requires minimal maintenance, with a greased fitting to keep the axle moving and sealed bearing options to reduce upkeep. Routine checks for wear are recommended.

Is the Stainless Steel Rigid Model 9 compatible with standard equipment?
Yes, the Stainless Steel Rigid Model 9 has a 4″ x 4-1/2″ mounting plate with a bolt pattern of 2-5/8” x 3-5/8” to 3” x 3” and a ½” stainless steel axle, fitting most industrial setups.

What should I know about static loads on the Blue All Polyurethane Wheel?
The Blue All Polyurethane Wheel can develop a flat spot if static loads exceed 60% of its rated capacity for too long, so avoid overloading when parked.

What if my application involves rough, powered use?
The Stainless Steel Rigid Model 9 isn’t built for abrasive, powered applications. Look at a tougher model like the G15. Call 800-501-3808 for advice.
