Description

3″ Gray Polyurethane Wheel. Brake Locks both the Swivel and Wheel Shown in photo with 5″ wheels. This Total Lock Stainless Steel plate swivel 3A caster is our stainless steel total locking light duty industrial caster which uses the same 1-¼” wide wheels as our standard Model 3. This caster is made using a stamped steel construction. Plate Caster Model 3A has a ⅜” axle and the swivel bearing is held together by a ½” rivet. Plate Caster Model 3A  caster brackets have two rows of ball bearings rotating on raceways for smoother swiveling. There is a solid cover over the swivel raceways to shield them from dirt and dust. This plate caster performs best if you limit the load to no more than 1200 lbs on a set of 4 Model 3A casters. The Total Locking Stainless Caster Model 3A is excellent for medical equipment.

The Polyurethane on Polyolefin Caster Wheel in the Stainless Steel Total Locking Stem Caster Model 3A is a solid choice for institutional stainless steel caster needs in labs, hospitals, and washdown applications. It has non-marking injection molded polyurethane tires mechanically bonded to a polyolefin center, offered in red, gray, black, or blue colors. This wheel is crafted for 3”, 4”, and 5” diameters (1.25” wide), has a Shore 60D durometer, and holds up to 300 lbs per caster on smooth floors from 32°F to 180°F in settings like research labs, hospitals, food service, and schools. The wheel includes precision sealed ball bearings for smooth rolling. The stainless steel caster assembly, made from 304 stainless steel with a stamped steel construction, includes a double ball bearing swivel for smoother movement and a 5” swivel radius with the total lock brake. A total lock brake locks both the wheel and the swivel on a swivel caster at the same time, ensuring equipment like carts and tables stays completely immobile when the brake is engaged, making it ideal for safety in labs and hospitals. Total locking casters are important because in cutting, welding, sawing, or similar tasks, people will lean against the worktable while doing their dangerous cut, and the total lock caster prevents anything in the caster from moving, totally immobilizing wheel and swivel rotation of the caster.

These polyurethane on poly wheels roll easier than gray rubber on smooth floors and withstand exposure to many chemicals and solvents, making them a smart pick for institutional applications. They don’t work in applications with shock, overloading, abuse, obstructions, poor floors, standing loads, or rack washers—don’t exceed 50% of the rated capacity for applications parked for long periods, as the bonding agent holding the tire to its polyolefin center can be affected by such conditions. The stainless steel assembly adds durability, giving reliable performance in dry or wet washdown settings like labs or hospital kitchens, ensuring safety with the total lock brake feature when the metal pedal brake is engaged, making this stem caster a great fit for equipment needing corrosion resistance and stability in institutional environments.
