Description

3″ Hard Rubber Ball Bearing Wheel. Shown with 5″ Wheel.

This Model K3 plate caster is made from stamped steel that is zinc plated for corrosion resistance. This plate caster uses a ⅜” diameter axle and the swivel caster raceway is held together by a ½” diameter rivet. Plate Caster Model K3 caster brackets have two rows of ball bearings rotating on raceways for smoother swiveling. The swivel caster raceways are protected by a solid dust shield. This caster’s larger plate size makes it easier to fabricate with, which is it’s primary selling point. This plate caster performs best if you limit the load to no more than 1200 lbs on a set of 4 Model K3 casters.

FAQ

Plate Caster Model K3 with RN Hard Rubber Wheel (Black, Marking, Ball Bearings)

What is the Plate Caster Model K3 with RN Hard Rubber Wheel?

The Plate Caster Model K3 with RN Hard Rubber Wheel is a swivel plate caster or rigid plate caster featuring a black, marking hard rubber wheel on a nylon sleeve with a zinc-plated or stainless steel bracket. With a 1.25” tread width, 3” to 5” diameters, ball bearings, and 350 lbs capacity per caster (1400 lbs for four), this industrial caster is a low-cost option for furniture dollies and legacy industrial uses in dry settings like workshops or garages.

Why choose these industrial casters for furniture dollies?

This light duty industrial caster offers a durable, low-cost RN Hard Rubber Wheel with a robust plate caster bracket, supporting 350 lbs. Popular for furniture dollies in workshops or garages, it’s suited for legacy buyers, though casters and wheels like polyolefin are recommended to avoid floor marking.

How does the RN Hard Rubber Wheel’s durability benefit this plate caster?

The RN Wheel’s hard rubber construction rolls over small debris and rough floors, paired with the swivel plate caster’s sturdy bracket for reliable performance. This caster suits dry, non-critical settings like garages or small warehouses, despite marking floors.

How do these casters and wheels perform on sensitive floors?

The RN Hard Rubber Wheel in this plate caster marks all floor surfaces, making it unsuitable for sensitive floors like hardwood or tile. For floor protection, choose non-marking casters and wheels like polyolefin, suitable for offices or retail.

How easy is it to roll the Plate Caster Model K3 with RN Hard Rubber Wheel?

This industrial caster rolls smoothly on rough or outdoor floors at 350 lbs capacity due to the RN Wheel’s hard rubber and ball bearings, with the swivel plate caster’s swivel action aiding maneuverability in workshops or garages.

Can these casters and wheels be parked under load?

Yes, the hard rubber wheel in this plate caster resists flat spotting under prolonged loads, suitable for stationary furniture dollies in workshops or warehouses. Avoid prolonged heavy static loads for optimal performance.

Are these light duty industrial casters suitable for sensitive environments?

No, the RN Hard Rubber Wheel in this light duty industrial caster marks floors, making it unsuitable for sensitive environments like hospitals or labs. It’s ideal for casters in dry, non-critical settings like garages or retail where marking is acceptable.

Can the Plate Caster Model K3 with RN Wheel be used in wet environments?

No, the RN Hard Rubber Wheel and zinc-plated frame of this plate caster are not suited for wet or washdown conditions due to potential damage and rust. Use stainless steel casters for wet settings; this caster is best for dry workshops or garages.

Do these industrial casters require maintenance?

The ball bearings in the RN Wheel and swivel plate caster’s sealed swivel bearings are low-maintenance, requiring only occasional cleaning. Regularly inspect for wear in dry settings like warehouses or workshops.

What are the mounting specs for this plate caster?

The Plate Caster Model K3 has a 3-1/8” x 4-1/8” top plate with a 2-3/8” x 3-3/8” bolt hole spacing (slotted to 1-3/4” x 2-15/16”), using 3/8” bolts, easing fabrication for light duty industrial casters in various settings.

Is the Plate Caster Model K3 with RN Wheel NSF-rated for food service?

No, while Model K3 is NSF-listed, the RN Hard Rubber Wheel’s marking nature makes it unsuitable for food service or sanitary settings. This light duty industrial caster is designed for dry, non-critical applications like workshops or retail.

How do I select the RN Hard Rubber Wheel for swivel plate casters?

Choose a 1.25” wide RN Hard Rubber Wheel with 3”, 3.5”, 4”, or 5” diameter, 3/8” axle, and ball bearings for swivel plate casters like Model K3, ensuring low-cost performance in dry settings, or opt for polyolefin for non-marking casters.

How does this industrial caster compare to polyolefin casters for legacy applications?

The Plate Caster Model K3 with RN Wheel is lower-cost than polyolefin casters but marks floors, limiting its use. Both support 350 lbs, but polyolefin is preferred for non-marking performance in retail or offices, while this caster suits legacy furniture dollies in workshops.

What role does the rigid design play in this plate caster?

The rigid plate caster prevents sideways movement, aiding straight-line travel for equipment with casters and wheels, enhancing control for furniture dollies in garages or retail, with TB, PTB, or K3A brake options for stability.

What brake options are available for this light duty industrial caster?

This plate caster offers the TB Top Lock Brake (metal pedal, side-mounted, high-temp capable, cost-effective), PTB Plastic Pedal Top Lock Brake (trailing position, easier to engage/disengage), and K3A Total Locking Brake (locks wheel and swivel, matches K3’s height and plate), enhancing safety for industrial casters in workshops, offices, or retail.

What are the advantages of the Plate Caster Model K3 with RN Wheel?

This light duty industrial caster combines the RN Wheel’s low-cost, durable hard rubber with the swivel plate caster or rigid bracket’s larger plate for easy fabrication, delivering reliable movement for casters and wheels in workshops, garages, or retail, with TB, PTB, and K3A brakes, despite floor marking.

How do these industrial casters benefit schools or office environments?

The Plate Caster Model K3 with RN Wheel supports heavy, stationary loads for light duty industrial casters in schools or offices where floor marking is tolerable. Its TB/PTB/K3A brakes ensure stability for carts in classrooms or storage areas, though non-marking wheels are preferred for sensitive floors.

Why are these casters and wheels suited for retail or small warehouses?

This swivel plate caster supports 350 lbs with the RN Wheel’s durable, low-cost hard rubber, ideal for industrial casters in retail (e.g., stock carts) or small warehouses (e.g., light dollies) on smooth floors. Its TB/PTB/K3A brakes ensure control, though marking limits use on delicate surfaces.
