Description

Rigid Caster Model 3 is the matching rigid for the Model 3 Swivel. The top plate measures 2-3/8″ x 3-5/8″ and the hole pattern is 1-3/4″ x 3″, slotted to 1-3/4″ x 2-7/8″ designed for 5/16″ mounting bolts. A 3/8″ diameter bolt axle with a locking nut carries the wheel and this caster features 1-1/4″ and 1-1/2″ wide wheels. This rigid caster is welded leg construction. Multiple wheels and brake options are available. When manually operating equipment supported by 4 swivel casters the direction of push or pull can be hard to manage. Rigid casters are primarily used to control the direction when equipment is being moved in direct line travel. Equipment with rigid casters installed can not move sideways. Ideal for gift shop fixtures, museum display cases, and exhibit transport carts. This plate caster is NSF listed. A Stainless Steel version is also offered for wet or corrosive environments.

This high capacity soft gray rubber caster wheel is a non-marking, injection-molded thermoplastic rubber tire with a 65A soft durometer, mechanically bonded to a polyolefin center. The RH wheel is ideal for wet and corrosive environments, such as food processing plants, pharmaceutical labs, hospitals, and cleanrooms. Soft rubber provides more desirable operating characteristics than any other wheel material. These gray soft rubber wheels are non-marking, quiet, absorb shock (prolonging equipment life and protecting cargo), can roll over small objects, protect costly floor surfaces, and minimize vibration. These caster wheels provide a softer ride than polyurethane and yet withstand exposure to many chemicals and solvents. The High Capacity Soft Gray Rubber Caster Wheel has annular ball bearings to maximize its rated capacity. Bearing options include annular ball bearings or Delrin bearings. The bonding agent which holds the rubber tire to its polyolefin center can be affected by exposure to some chemicals, impact, overloading, and the buildup of heat. Ideal for carts carrying sensitive equipment like medical devices, lab instruments, or food service items.

FAQ

Plate Caster Model 3 with RH High Capacity Soft Gray Rubber (TPR) Wheels

What is TPR in the Plate Caster Model 3’s RH High Capacity Soft Gray Rubber wheels?

TPR (Thermoplastic Rubber) is a non-marking, injection-molded gray rubber mechanically bonded to a polyolefin core in the RH High Capacity Soft Gray Rubber wheels. It’s elastic, tear-resistant, and quieter than polyurethane, offering shock absorption and floor protection for hospitals, labs, and food service. It resists light chemicals but may develop flat spots under prolonged loads.

Why choose RH High Capacity Soft Gray Rubber wheels for hospital equipment?

The non-marking TPR wheels on the Plate Caster Model 3 roll quietly, absorb shock, and protect floors like tile or linoleum, ideal for hospital carts or beds. They’re NSF-listed and suited for dry institutional settings, ensuring equipment and floor longevity.

Can RH High Capacity Soft Gray Rubber wheels handle chemicals in pharmaceutical labs?

Yes, the gray TPR tires resist many chemicals and solvents, making them suitable for dry lab environments. Harsh chemicals or heat buildup may weaken the tire’s bond to the polyolefin core, so avoid heavy exposure.

How hard is it to push the Plate Caster Model 3 with RH High Capacity Soft Gray Rubber wheels?

TPR wheels require more effort under load. For manual pushing, reduce the 350 lbs per wheel capacity by 50% (to 175 lbs) and select the 5” diameter for easier movement on smooth, dry factory floors.

Can I leave the Plate Caster Model 3 with RH High Capacity Soft Gray Rubber wheels under load?

No, avoid prolonged standing loads. The gray TPR tires can develop flat spots or a permanent “set,” reducing performance in institutional settings like schools or food service.

Are RH High Capacity Soft Gray Rubber wheels suitable for rough industrial floors?

No, these TPR wheels are designed for smooth, dry factory floors without obstructions. They’re best for institutional applications like hospitals or labs, not abusive industrial environments.

Do RH High Capacity Soft Gray Rubber wheels on the Plate Caster Model 3 require maintenance?

No, the sealed annular ball bearings are maintenance-free, keeping out dust for smooth, lasting performance on dry floors in pharmaceutical labs, hospitals, or food service settings.

What are the mounting specifications for the Plate Caster Model 3 with TPR wheels?

The Plate Caster Model 3 has a 2 3/8” x 3 5/8” top plate with a slotted bolt hole pattern of 1 3/4” x 2 7/8” to 3”, using 5/16” bolts, fitting standard institutional carts or shelving.

Can the Plate Caster Model 3 with RH High Capacity Soft Gray Rubber wheels be used in wet environments?

The zinc-plated steel frame isn’t suited for wet, washdown, or corrosive conditions. Use these TPR wheels in dry settings like labs or hospitals to prevent rust and ensure durability.

Is the Plate Caster Model 3 with RH High Capacity Soft Gray Rubber wheels NSF-listed for food service?

Yes, the Plate Caster Model 3 is NSF-listed, ideal for food service or medical settings in dry environments. Verify with the supplier that the TPR wheels meet NSF standards for your use.

How do I replace the RH High Capacity Soft Gray Rubber wheel on the Plate Caster Model 3?

Match the wheel’s diameter (3”, 4”, or 5”), tread width (1-1/4” or 1-1/2”), and 3/8” axle. Choose a non-marking TPR wheel with sealed annular ball bearings to maintain the quiet, smooth roll.

How do RH High Capacity Soft Gray Rubber wheels compare to polyurethane for institutional casters?

The gray TPR wheels are softer, quieter, and better at shock absorption than polyurethane, protecting floors and cargo in hospitals or labs. They roll less easily under load and aren’t suited for rough floors.
