Description

Rigid Model G15 is the identical plate caster for the G15 Swivel. When moving equipment manually supported by 4 swivel casters it can be hard to control the direction you are pulling or pushing. Rigids help in controlling machinery being moved in direct line travel. Equipment with two/both rigid casters can not move sideways. These type of casters are usually equipped at the opposite end of the push handle. They have 2 legs horizontal to the mounting plate. Leg thickness is 1/4”. The diameter axle is 1/2” and is built to use wheels with a hub width of 2 7/16”. This rigid caster is built from cold forged steel. Rigid Casters can carry more load than swivel casters because they do not have an offset. Nonetheless, on our website both rigid casters and same swivel casters are shown with the same capacity. We have other mounting plate options available and wheel bearing types are available on request.

The G15 Rigid Caster with HU Heavy Duty Gray Solid Polyurethane Wheel is engineered for dry environments requiring stable, straight-line movement and robust support for heavy loads. The HU wheel, constructed from solid polyurethane with a glass-filled nylon bearing collar, delivers exceptional strength and low rolling resistance. Its Shore D 65 durometer ensures lasting durability and smooth operation, making it ideal for manufacturing or warehousing applications.

The G15 rigid bracket, crafted from zinc-plated steel, provides reliable strength but is best suited for dry conditions due to its susceptibility to corrosion. It features a ½” axle and offers multiple bearing options, including roller, delrin, or sealed precision ball bearings (stainless steel versions available). The rigid design enhances stability under heavy loads, though it’s not recommended for wet environments or powered applications—consider the G15 swivel model or alternatives for such needs.

Paired with zinc-plated frames, this caster offers a low-maintenance solution for heavy-duty, dry settings. Caster City has been a trusted provider of dependable casters since 1977—call 800-501-3808 to find the perfect solution for your equipment.

*This Plate Caster Model G15 contains the All Gray Polyurethane With Precision Sealed Ball Bearing in the Wheel. The caster shown in photo with 8″ wheel.

FAQ

FAQ – Questions & Answers

What is the G15 Rigid Caster with HU Wheel designed for?
The G15 Rigid Caster with HU Wheel is built for dry environments needing stable, straight-line movement and heavy load support, such as manufacturing plants or distribution centers.

What makes the HU Heavy Duty Gray Solid Polyurethane Wheel a good choice for this caster?
The HU wheel features a solid polyurethane construction with a Shore D 65 durometer and a glass-filled nylon bearing collar, offering strength, low rolling resistance, and durability for heavy loads.

Why choose the G15 rigid bracket for this caster?
The G15 rigid bracket, made of zinc-plated steel, provides strength for heavy-duty use in dry conditions, but it’s not corrosion-resistant and should be avoided in wet or corrosive environments.

What bearing options does the HU wheel support?
The HU wheel accommodates roller bearings, delrin bearings, or sealed precision ball bearings, with stainless steel options available for enhanced durability.

What is the Shore D 65 durometer, and why is it important?
The Shore D 65 durometer measures the polyurethane’s hardness, striking a balance between durability and flexibility for low rolling resistance and wear resistance in industrial settings.

What temperature range can the HU wheel handle?
The HU wheel performs reliably from -50° to 180° F, making it suitable for both cold and warm dry environments.

What maintenance does the G15 Rigid Caster with HU Wheel require?
Minimal maintenance is required, with a greased fitting to keep the axle moving and sealed bearing options to reduce upkeep. Routine wear checks are advised.

How does the G15 Rigid Caster mount to equipment?
It includes a 4″ x 4-1/2″ zinc-plated steel mounting plate with a bolt pattern of 2-5/8” x 3-5/8” to 3” x 3” and a ½” axle, compatible with most industrial setups.

What should I know about static loads on the HU wheel?
Static loads exceeding 60% of the wheel’s capacity for prolonged periods may cause flat spots, so avoid overloading when stationary.

Is this caster suitable for wet or corrosive environments?
No, the zinc-plated frame will corrode in wet or corrosive conditions. Consider a stainless steel model for those environments.

What if my application involves rough, powered use?
The G15 Rigid Caster isn’t designed for abrasive, powered applications. Explore a more robust model or call 800-501-3808 for expert guidance.

Note: The G15 Rigid Caster is identical to the Model 9 Rigid Caster in terms of metal fork/yoke/assembly, pricing, and weight rating, differing only in model reference.
