Description

Rigid Model 50 Casters and the matching casters with swivel have the identical wheels displayed on Model 30. The weight capacity size in Plate Caster Model 50 is usually higher for the identical wheels shown in Caster Model 30. The thicker and bigger mounting plate on Caster Rigid Model 50, and massive legs are the reasons for the higher load capacity ratings shown on model 50 casters. Ideal for automotive assembly lines, foundry equipment, heavy machinery moving, and aircraft maintenance stands. Rigids are mostly used to control the direction when moving machinery in a forward or backward line. The one exemption are rigid casters which have v-groove wheels. V-groove wheels rotate on an inverted angle iron track which directs the line of travel. When rigid casters and swivel casters are on the same piece of machinery, swivel casters should be connected below the push handle, and rigids should be attached to the opposite end of where the push handle is placed. Popular options include a face contact brake to latch the wheels. Rigid casters are not able to move sideways. They require to be moved into place. Our suggestion is you use 4 swivel casters when maximum mobility is required in a limited work environment.

V-groove caster wheels are designed to guide equipment by rolling on inverted angle iron track. Elevated track minimizes problems caused by floor debris. The relief groove at the base of the “V” equalizes the load on each face of the angle for balanced load distribution. Gray Iron V-groove wheels offer budget-friendly pricing for light duty track tasks. Caster City paints these wheels black and includes a lubrication fitting in the hub for easy maintenance. We offer Gray Iron V-groove wheels with a variety of bearing choices for optimal performance in different applications. V-groove wheels are available with 7/8″ groove width for 1″ angle iron or 1-3/8″ groove depth for 1.5″ angle iron. When not operating on track, the considerable wheel tread on each side of the V-groove allows for use on smooth floors. Ideal for small workshop tracks, display systems, and light duty conveyor applications.
