A full radius crown polyurethane wheel with a lightweight aluminum core, available in multiple durometers to match your industrial material handling application.
The TREW Series FRC polyurethane wheel combines a full radius crown (FRC) tread profile with a lightweight aluminum core to deliver exceptional rolling performance, long tread life, and reduced operator effort. Designed for industrial caster applications, these polyurethane wheels keep the contact patch centered under load, reducing rolling resistance, improving maneuverability, and promoting even tread wear. The aluminum core lowers overall wheel weight while eliminating the risk of rust associated with cast iron cores. Ideal for tow lines, tugger carts, warehouse carts, AGVs, and other high-cycle material handling equipment. Proudly made in the USA.
Testing of TREW’s standard 90A Special Blend polyurethane has shown up to 12% lower push force and up to 33% longer tread life compared to conventional polyurethane wheel designs. The standard blue 90A tread is stocked for the fastest delivery and offers the best balance of durability, ergonomic performance, rolling resistance, and load capacity for most industrial applications.

Wheel durometer plays a major role in the performance of polyurethane industrial wheels. Softer treads provide greater cushioning, quieter operation, and increased traction, while harder treads offer higher load capacity, lower rolling resistance, and longer service life under heavy loads. Choosing the proper polyurethane durometer helps optimize wheel performance for your specific application.
For most industrial applications, the 90A Special Blend is the recommended choice. Additional durometer options are available for specialized operating conditions.
65A
The softest option available. Offers maximum cushioning, excellent traction, and the quietest operation while minimizing floor pressure. Best suited for protecting delicate floors or transporting fragile loads. Lower load capacity and higher rolling effort than firmer compounds.
75A
Provides a quieter ride and excellent grip while supporting greater loads than 65A. A good choice for lighter carts operating on smooth or slippery floors.
85A
A balanced option that combines cushioning with good load capacity. Ideal for general-purpose material handling applications where no extreme performance characteristics are required.
90A Special Blend (Standard – Blue)
TREW’s most popular polyurethane formulation and the standard stocked option. It delivers an outstanding combination of durability, low rolling resistance, ergonomic performance, and long tread life, making it the preferred polyurethane wheel for most industrial applications.
92A HD
Designed for heavier-duty service. This compound resists deflection under continuous loads and handles heat buildup well during extended operation, making it ideal for heavily loaded carts, tow lines, and long travel distances.
95A
A firm polyurethane compound offering increased load capacity and lower rolling resistance on smooth floors while sacrificing some cushioning.
70D
The hardest tread available. Provides maximum load capacity and the lowest rolling resistance under very heavy loads. Best suited for smooth floors where minimal shock absorption is required.

What is the FRC wheel?
The FRC is a full radius crown polyurethane wheel liquid cast onto a lightweight aluminum core. Manufactured by TREW and offered by Caster City, this industrial polyurethane wheel uses a continuous radius tread instead of a traditional flat tread. This design keeps the contact area centered under load, reducing rolling resistance and making carts easier to push and maneuver. The FRC is available in an 8″ x 2″ size.
What makes a full radius crown tread different from a flat tread?
A flat tread places its entire width on the floor, providing excellent load capacity but requiring more effort to change direction. A full radius crown tread maintains a narrower contact patch, allowing the wheel to swivel and turn more easily while the thick polyurethane tread continues to support heavy loads. This makes it an excellent choice for tow lines, tugger carts, and other material handling equipment.
What is the standard tread?
The standard tread is TREW’s 90A Special Blend polyurethane in blue. This is the company’s flagship formulation and is the compound used for all published performance, capacity, and rolling resistance data for the FRC wheel.
Can I order a different polyurethane hardness?
Yes. The FRC polyurethane wheel is available in seven durometers: 65A, 75A, 85A, 90A Special Blend (standard), 92A HD, 95A, and 70D. Softer compounds provide quieter operation, greater traction, and increased floor protection, while harder compounds offer higher load capacities, lower rolling resistance, and longer service life under heavy loads.
Do the published capacity ratings apply to every durometer?
No. All published performance and capacity ratings are based on the standard 90A Special Blend polyurethane. Softer compounds generally reduce load capacity, while harder compounds typically increase it. If your application requires a non-standard durometer and operates near maximum capacity, contact us for application-specific recommendations.
What bearings are available?
The standard configuration includes precision sealed ball bearings with top hat spanners for a 1/2″ axle. Larger precision ball bearings are also available for 3/4″ and 1″ axle sizes.
Can I really buy a custom polyurethane wheel online?
Yes. This program makes it easy to order a custom polyurethane wheel without going through a lengthy engineering quotation process. Simply select your preferred durometer and bearing configuration and order it like any other catalog wheel. Applications outside the available options can still be quoted through our engineering team.
How quickly do these wheels ship?
The standard blue 90A Special Blend with a 1/2″ bore typically ships within 2 to 3 business days. All other durometers and bearing configurations are custom manufactured and generally require 2 to 4 weeks for production before shipping from Tennessee.
Can I return a custom-made wheel?
No. Because each custom polyurethane wheel is manufactured to your specifications, custom wheels are non-returnable. If you are unsure which compound is best for your application, we recommend contacting our team before placing your order.
Why choose an aluminum core instead of cast iron?
An aluminum core is lighter than cast iron, will not rust, and helps dissipate heat during continuous operation. By transferring heat away from the polyurethane tread, the aluminum core helps protect the bond between the tread and hub, contributing to longer wheel life and improved durability.
Will the polyurethane tread mark my floors?
No. Polyurethane is a non-marking material regardless of color. It helps protect finished floors while providing lower rolling resistance than rubber under similar loads, making it an excellent choice for many industrial applications.
What colors are available?
