Description
Plate Caster Model K3 is made using a stamped steel construction and is bright zinc plated for corrosion resistance. The mounting plate is 3-1/8” x 4-1/8” and Bolt Hole Spacing: 2-3/8″ x 3-3/8″; Slotted to 1-3/4″ x 2-15/16″ and is designed to use a mounting bolt size of 3/8”. This plate caster uses a ⅜” diameter axle and the swivel caster is held together by a 1⁄2” diameter rivet. This institutional plate caster is constructed with two ball bearings on hardened raceways to ensure life of the caster. There is a metal dust cap protecting the swivel raceways to shield them from dirt and dust. Features wheels with 1-¼” and 1-1⁄2” tread widths. This Zinc Plated caster is NSF listed. The larger mounting plate of this caster is easier to work with for most fabricators saving precious labor hours.
Caster City manufactures this larger plate caster in Stainless Steel Caster Model 3. This caster comes standard with two high temperature white seals in the swivel bearing that has a temperature range of -20F to 450F. Also come with a grease fitting on the dust cover and axle, and buffed to a smooth reflective surface.
Caster City also manufactures this plate caster in Economy Stainless Steel Plate Caster Model K3. Constructed with S304 stainless steel and comes with no dust cap or grease fitting on the swivel making it economically efficient for most applications.
This injection-molded Polyurethane wheel can come in 4 different colors : red, gray, black, blue. The polyurethane tires are mechanically bonded to a polyolefin center. The wheel’s design features precision sealed ball bearings, and has a durometer of Shore 60D. We recommend these wheels for use above 32F and below 180F. They have injection molded polyurethane tires which are best for use on smooth floors. Avoid use in applications where this is abuse such as shock loads, impact, or floor obstructions, or static (standing) loads. Do not exceed 50% of the rated capacity of the wheel for applications that are parked for prolonged periods.
These caster wheels are non marking injection molded polyurethane tires mechanically bonded to a polyolefin center. They are especially suited for use in Research Laboratories, Hospitals, Food Service, Schools, Bakeries and other Institutional applications. These caster wheels are easier rolling than Gray Rubber on smooth floors. They withstand exposure to many chemicals and solvents. They can be used in industrial applications which do not involve shock, overloading, abuse, obstructions, poor floors or storage ( standing ) loads.
If you have a static (standing) load, or an application that requires a higher capacity polyurethane wheel in a swivel caster, please consider our liquid cast, Blue Polyurethane on Aluminum (“PA”) industrial caster wheel.
FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions about the Plate Caster Model K3 with Polyurethane on Polyolefin Wheel
What is the load capacity of the Plate Caster Model K3 with Polyurethane on Polyolefin Wheel?
The Plate Caster Model K3 has a load capacity of up to 350 pounds per caster. For a set of four casters, the total load should not exceed 1,200 pounds. When parked for prolonged periods, limit the load to 50% of the rated capacity per caster (175 pounds) to preserve wheel integrity.
What materials are used in the Plate Caster Model K3?
It is made of stamped steel with bright zinc plating for corrosion resistance. The caster features a ⅜” diameter axle and a ½” diameter rivet for the swivel, with two ball bearings on hardened raceways and a metal dust cap to shield the swivel raceways from dirt and dust.
What are the mounting plate dimensions and bolt hole details for the Plate Caster Model K3?
The mounting plate measures 3-1/8” x 4-1/8” with a slotted hole pattern of 2 3/8″ x 3 3/8″ (slotted to 1 3/4″ x 2 15/16″). It is designed to use 3/8” mounting bolts, making it versatile and easy to install.
What colors are available for the Polyurethane on Polyolefin Wheel?
The wheel comes in four colors: red, gray, black, or blue, with injection-molded polyurethane tires mechanically bonded to a polyolefin center.
What are the key features of the Polyurethane on Polyolefin Wheel?
It has a Shore 95A durometer, precision sealed ball bearings, and thread guards that act as spanner bushings. The non-marking polyurethane tire ensures smooth, quiet rolling on smooth floors and protects against floor damage.
Where is the Plate Caster Model K3 with Polyurethane on Polyolefin Wheel best used?
It excels in research laboratories, hospitals, food service areas, schools, bakeries, and other institutional settings requiring hygiene (NSF listed), corrosion resistance, and quiet operation. It’s also suitable for light industrial applications on smooth floors.
What are the temperature limits for the Polyurethane on Polyolefin Wheel?
Use it between 32°F and 180°F for optimal performance and durability. Avoid exposure outside this range.
How does the swivel design benefit the Plate Caster Model K3?
The swivel includes two ball bearings on hardened raceways and a metal dust cap, providing smooth operation and protection from dirt and dust.
How does the Polyurethane on Polyolefin Wheel compare to gray rubber wheels?
It rolls more easily and quietly than gray rubber wheels on smooth floors, offers better floor protection, and withstands exposure to many chemicals and solvents.
What are the limitations of the Polyurethane on Polyolefin Wheel?
Avoid shock loads, impacts, floor obstructions, or static loads. Do not use on rough or uneven floors, and limit parked loads to 175 pounds per caster to prevent damage.
How do I maintain the Plate Caster Model K3 with Polyurethane on Polyolefin Wheel?
Minimal maintenance is needed. Inspect regularly for wear, keep clean, and rely on the sealed ball bearings, metal dust cap, and thread guards for longevity.
Why is the Plate Caster Model K3 easier to fabricate with?
Its larger 3-1/8” x 4-1/8” mounting plate and slotted hole pattern (2 3/8″ x 3 3/8″, slotted to 1 3/4″ x 2 15/16″) simplify installation on various equipment.
What is the purpose of the thread guards on the Polyurethane on Polyolefin Wheel?
They protect the sealed ball bearings from corrosion and prevent threads from interfering with the axle, ensuring smooth wheel rotation.
Is the Plate Caster Model K3 NSF listed?
Yes, it is NSF listed, making it ideal for environments with high sanitation standards, like food service and healthcare.
What tread widths are available for the Polyurethane on Polyolefin Wheel?
The wheels come in 1-¼” and 1-½” tread widths, offering flexibility for different applications.
